Save the money. Guy at uprev said put it in map 1 if you dont know cause thats usually the tuned map and its better than guessing and getting an aggresive map instead. It will be two weeks before I can get to a tuner here as its 3 hours north but I'll let you know what I find out and if I re-tune or not.
it is always a good idea to have a Uprev cable in the future specially if you still have a car warranty. If something mechanical or sensor related issue that comes up and Nissan need to hook up their Consult reader to your OBd2 you are screwed! They will see your Tune and deny your warranty claim if it is engine, tranny related issue. Having the cable with you, you can flash the car back to stock as if nothing was Tuned.

Knock on wood, if you have issue with your car how will you going to drive to your tuner? you said it is 3 hours drive? Having a cable with you, you can just flash it in your garage anytime. :

If you no longer have a warranty! i guess it is Ok, but the convinience of flashing your car on your own or when you decided to sell the Uprev, you can pair that license in the cable and sell it.

Good thinking. I'm new to this for sure. think I'll look for a good deal on a used cable. is the oem flash just something you keep in a file in your computer? Does a program upload it or are you copying and pasting files?

firulice, It is a file name back2stock that your tuner will provide you. You need to find out your ECU serial number by calling Infiniti parts dept. and he'll ask for your car's Vin#. He will then give you the ECU serial #

That serial # can be cross reference with the Uprev Matrix. (List of Uprev supported ECU) - If your ECU is on the Uprev Matrix, your tuner can find what file you need to flash your car back to stock. It is like flashing your car with a new tune. Once you flash it back to stock, uprev Cipher will not be able to read your ECU , unless you reflash the car using your latest Etune file.

Yes, you keep that backtostock file like a regular etunes.

Great thanks for the info. I'm learning a lot. I was just reading the smooth throttle with uprev thread and see you are a major contributer there. What is my best throttle map for the MT?
I think I'm going to buy a tuner cable and work with Seymore after checking my current tune on a dyno

Firulice:

I would try MAP # 3 (Awgd8-2) on that list and also the recent one AwGD8-Power.

I believe one member here with MT prefers AWGD8-2 map. Some prefers to just disable ETC(elect. throttle control) in their tune if you are MT. This give them 1:1 pedal/throttle feel- like a cable, but you lose (cruise control, etc)

If AT I would try the same MAP that I posted. One of our members ANMVQ recently tried the Awgd8-power and he said he likes it. Depending on your butt dyno settings, some might not even feel a thing....That is why I always encourage to give me a feed back so I can do it better. Smooth throttle thread is created by wstar and I like to give credit to him since he opened up the possibilites. It just took me a year to figure it out which section of the throttle maps affect what etc.

BTW, Seymore4 is a great tuner and he etune my car 2 years ago. I was lucky enough to grab a used tuner version of the engine managment and after Seymore dialed in my tune, I decided to play around with my throttle settings.
So far I have made 24 etunes file (10 from Seymore4) and the rest are exploring the throttle Maps settings.

Great thanks for the advice! I will try both settings and let you know after I get the cable. I will be doing maps as I don't want to lose synchro Rev or cruise control. ..like others have stated I wish that wasn't a global setting because switching it via maps would be awesome.
