So I've been meaning to check this on my car for awhile and finally did today when I got home, in neutral in the garage. Bought the car last december. I tried the ecuteck instructions first, nothing. Then the uprev instructions and it blinks back. Cruise control blinks back how many times I clicked cancel so I'm assuming I'm tuned with uprev. Cruise control has worked fine. Now I'm worried because I don't know what map I was in and don't want to put it into a map that might hurt something. Do I have anything to worry about? From researching it looks like the most common maping is:
1: Tuned Map for 91 Octane 2: Tuned Map for Higher Octane 3: Valet 4: Anti-Theft 5: Factory Maps Is there a way to verify if this is my setup? What else should I know? Also I bought the car in Florida and brought it to utah, would the tune not be as good now? I've been very happy with the power and performance of the car, hope I don't f that up now lol. Thoughts?

Every tuner is different on how they set the maps up. My tuner can tune for power and gas mileage in the same map so he only tunes one performance map, a valet map and then always leave map 5 as the stock map. That's for NA tunes.
FI is completely different |

Then as you test each Map, see if you"ll come across with no start(Anti-theft) If still not convinced, meet one of our members (there is got to be at least one) that is closer to you with Uprev cable. Hooked it up to your PC and OBD2 and see! |

How to find out if your car is tuned?
If the cable used is a standard cable then you can't open the rom editor and see what the maps are. Also if the tune is locked then you won't be able to see anything either.
The only thing you can check is the rpms. If the rpms were set higher than stock then you should notice a difference between the stock map and the tuned map. Most tuners use map 5 as the stock map. Check idle rpms with that one and then cycle the other maps. To be extra save run the stock map until you can get it to a professional. The best way would be to find a local UpRev tuner and have them look. |

Okay so i went back to the garage...2 is valet, 5 is anti theft...not sure on 1, 3, 4. 4 seems to make the car more aggressive. I just reved in neutral and the engine seemed to flex more and have more power. Reved to 4-5k. Guessing I shouldn't drive to find out on those 3? I have no idea which map I've been driving on lol

You could buy an UpRev cable, remove the tune file and when you get a chance to get to a tuner have him tune it for your location, local octane and mods. You won't lose the license. It'll just return you to the stock tune. |

The good thing is you only have 3 Maps to worry about. I would definitely check it with the Uprev pro tuner closer to you to check how these Maps were tuned. Car should be not a problem to drive, just do not red line it . I would not trust the tune 99% as of now since we do not have any idea how they tuned it or what parameters changed. Normal driving should be fine at all on those 3 Maps. Avoid WOT(flooring the pedal) we are not sure yet if AIr/fuel ratio is dialed in on WOT run. BTW, buy a lottery since how often you get free Uprev license? =) As Jwick mentioned, you can also buy an Uprev cable and flash the car back to stock, your Uprev license will pair to your cable. I can ask my tuner to give you a back to stock file. Regardless of tune file being locked by your tuner, I believe flashing back to stock will overide everything. When you are ready to see a Pro Uprev Tuner, just bring your cable (w/ Uprev license paired) and he can take a look at your MAPs or create one (pay for dyno hours) Or Buy a cable, flash it back to stock and Use Seymore4 to Etune your car. You have to email him your data log. Right now we do not know your ECu serial number. You have to call Infiniti parts dept. to get that. They will ask for your Cars VIN# Write down your ECU serial number since tuner needs that to get you s base ROM and back to stock map. Last edited by Awgd8; 04-13-2015 at 11:14 PM. |

Are you saying the the idle setting is independent of map and if the idle is changed its outside the individual maps and they will all be the same regardless of its set to 500 or 1200? |

The idle setting is Universal , just like the ETC 0ff for Electronic Throttle Control.
Once you set the base idle at certain RPM, all MAPs will have the same. I have a tuner version and I had that idle RPM change more than a couple of times. I still prefer 775RPM. Last edited by Awgd8; 04-13-2015 at 11:10 PM. |
