Ecutech or uprev?
So I ive been trying to read up on both and from what I gather, ecutech seems to have more control over the ecu than uprev. Problem with ecutech is that it's not end user, which is fine because that's not what I'm looking for. I also don't really have an option for dyno tuning so that just leaves etunes which both parties have. When it comes to the money aspect, obviously one would want to go the less expensive route, but to me,if I have to pay more for a more superior product, than that's the route I'll take. So with having said that,on paper (posts) ecutech seems to have more options. But what I'm having a hard time with is people seem to still gravitate towards uprev. Am I missing something. Does it have a lot to do with just end user ability or are there other pros to uprev I haven't seen? Sorry if they seem like noob questions. I'm just looking forward to getting the car tuned and want to be confident in my choice. Have we seen any comparable dynos with one accessing more power and torque? I know that's only part of the equation, but it's a start.
Look forward to hearing some feed back on the subject and hope to keep the thread civilized! Because in the end,it's all about

Also if anybody has a link to a thread (I probably missed one or two) if you could provide a link, that'd be great.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Going to Seattle to get tuned could be an option. Any body you deal with there you would recommend?

There has been all kinds of stories and drama and waiting on options that are yet to be released, and people demanding refunds etc with ECUtek. Meanwhile there are thousands of satisfied customers with Uprev.
OP look up Intec Racing in Kent WA, Lawrence the master tuner there is the most experienced Uprev tuner in the area and has tuned too many 370's to count. If anyone can bring it to the full potential he can. |

I believe they have come out with some new features. There's two step launch, switching through about 4 maps. Flat foot shifting and something else.

I believe ecutek has total control over timing, scaling injectors and access to more tables in our ecu. That leads me to believe that there's more that can be squeezed out of our ecu's. I'm trying to find more info on uprevs capabilities when it comes to the ecu.
@ reldas. What features were you waiting for that never came?

The features you listed here have not been released yet. They are still in beta testing!

Yep. And the only place to get Ecutek is through Visconti, whereas you can get Uprev from many places.

Uprev is proven. For years. I think that's why most people prefer them.
Ecutek is fairly new on the scene. They left a bad taste in a lot of mouths when they promised lots of new features and then seemingly abandoned the Z market to focus on the FRS/BRZ market. But after several years, Ecutek has finally released the promised features. I'm not sure why they're being referred to as still in beta testing though. They are available through any licensed Ecutek tuner according to both of the tuners I have spoken with here in Texas. They did not release those features for the public to do testing on them. I've been happy with my Ecutek tune for nearly two years now. **edit** I should clarify that my local tuners told me they had the features, but it turned out they did not. 'Soon' is all they could say for ETA.
