Again, this is a product that I would've loved to have on my ride. Fully built block with BP kit and CJM s2se kit. I would've loved to use ecutek for all the features they were supposed to have but it's never been completed and the business practice is what will keep me from taking the chance. |

Well I decided to go with ecutek and went through Visconti. I should hopefully be tuned in the next few weeks here. Im hoping that I'm entering this at the right moment when it all comes together for ecutek and the tuners. Wish me luck!

And I totally understand. I know from all that's gone on,it's left a bad taste in a lot of the communities mouths. I figured I would take a chance on it and roll the dice. At the end of the day,I still get a tune for my car.

I'm guess I was right from the get go, but who is keeping score LOL! I'm not disappointed yet. I have a great UpRev tune and when EcuTek comes through I will probably jump ship. From what I have been told by a couple of folks that have EcuTeck tune on their GTRs, one of them is Seb, the package rocks! I'm glad they aren't just putting it out there just to get in out there if you know what I mean.

I will repeat here what I recently PM'ed to another forum member:
I chose ecutek software because it allowed the tuner to have direct control of the 370z throttle response and ignition timing. Whereas Uprev, at the time I was buying, had only indirect ignition timing and throttle control. Throttle control is very important with a daily driven automatic because there is no clutch to moderate and overly or underly responsive throttle during daily driving. There are several threads on The370z.com that show how uprev users are struggling with the throttle response. My etune was done by Dynotronics in New Braunfels. I bought the tune and the cable for $725. Joe at Dynotronics had tuned several 370’s and at least one track car with some dyno time from what I understood. That experience was required to do an etune without dyno time on my car. After several iterations of programming and data logging I am satisfied with the much tailored outcome, great throttle response and more power across the rpm band with no loss in fuel mileage. Dynotronics will do retunes for free if NA mods are added as long as I own the car. Another respected ecutek tuner is Visconti Tuning in Connecticut. Other Dynotronics references are Jarblue (6mt) in Austin and Tiger123 (7at) in Chicago. |

I was told by a reputable tuner here (Kaizen) that the new features in Ecutek are not out yet -- he thinks it's about a month away from release. We're holding a dyno/tune day when it does.

Besides the features, how do you like ecutek? You have bolt ons? What gains did you see? Who tuned you? Interested to see numbers. I haven't really seen any on the forum.

Ecutek tune@SpecialtyZ I ended up having my tune further tweaked by ecutek directly (to both fix an issue and I guess squeeze out a bit more power). I was a bit of a guinea pig as other cars with Ecutek in the states were stock. Just waiting on those racerom updates now.. |

I feel that I have to post this:
1. ECUTEK has been claiming things and using smoke and mirrors for some time now. If the features are available, then let people have them if they agree to test and stuff. For me, it's a nogo with those guys. 2. UPREV has been consistent with their claims and support. I personally only deal with Mike (manager) and Omar (tuner), but any of there staff will square you away and tell it to you straight. Not to mention that there are features that are available that may or may not be offered by PRO-Tuners for various reasons. I know for certain that UPREV is working updated features everyday and their tunes are very reliable (I can't speak for all of their PRO-Tuners since I went straight to the source). There are a few forum members that knew my Z and a couple even got to take it out on the Dragon (when I wasn't constantly running it) and it was tuned by a PRO-Tuner and then later on by Omar at UPREV. And I get it........every car can respond differently to parts, upgrades, and tuning. 3. VRTuning isn't even on my radar, so no comment. The bottom line is that you have to know what and who you are dealing with in the tuning game. Just because ECUTEK is awesome with GT-Rs, that doesn't translate to being automatically awesome with 370Zs. They are very different and everyone knows that. Lastly I doubt you will ever see any posts from UPREV, but know that they have their ears to the ground and are pushing the envelope day in and day out. I would vouch for them any day of the week. Rob
