JAR, you can get Ecutek from a number of dealers, it just does not have all the features they promised and UpRev is still superior when it comes to mapping options.

Which features are you referring to? Visconti is not the only tuner that has access to the new features such as map switching, flat foot shifting, launch control, etc...

Now that these options are available, I personally don't feel like Uprev is the superior option any more. Also, my understanding is that some of the Uprev tables just zero out the data and adjust up or down whereas the same table in Ecutek are propagated with actual values from the ECU. But I'm no track junkie or expert in these matters.

I am unaware of ecutek releasing the new features, flat foot shifting, launch control and ect. My car was at SpecialtyZ for almost two months after Visconti announced those features and Ecutek said they were still conducting beta testing. If they have released those features it most have happened in the recent past and why has no one said anything.

Also, I am in total agreement that it will be a superior package once it is made available with all those features and hopefully flex fuel programming for those of us with forced induction!

I've been texting with Visconti and he confirmed those features are available and a valet mode as well. He also mentioned about scaling the O2 sensors as well so that they are similar to a wideband on a dyno.

Sweet...I would go for it

December 2014, so yes, quite recently. But I agree with you on questioning why there hasn't been more fanfare. Frankly, there aren't a lot of guys running Ecutek, and there are a lot of Uprev homers on this forum. Up until these features were finally released, I think there was good reason that was the case. Ecutek hyped up those features a lot long before they were released. That can rub people the wrong way; I understand. But now that they're here, I hope people will be more open to the idea that there is some legitimate competition in the marketplace. As for me, I don't really post about my tune much for a couple of reasons: (1) tuning is not at all my expertise (2) the Z is my DD and I don't track or autoX.

All I really wanted out of my tune was better throttle response, and I got it. I also wanted a valet tune and had to wait almost two years for it. Everything else was a bonus in my eyes. Which is an extremely different perspective than many people on this forum have.

Here's John's thread with videos he did showing off the new features: http://www.the370z.com/tuning/98998-...promotion.html

Hotrodz 03-02-2015 09:51 PM

Right on...I think we all want the same thing regardless, a sports car that performs like and handles as well as it looks! Nothing like fierce agreement LOL!!! Hopefully others will post their results on the package. The feature should definitely benefit those of us with mo power!

Thanks to everyone for giving there input in this thread. I'm going to go with ecutek and see how it goes. I'll come back to this thread and let everyone know how my experiance goes. Looking forward to getting the car running optimal and providing feedback to the community about ecutek and the features they provide. :tiphat:

Ok,so I wanted to update this thread and clarify that the features (map switching, launch control, flat foot shifting etc...) is still not do out for another 3 to 4 weeks. I had a chance to talk to joe at dynotronics (pretty cool guy, very informative) and he told me this information. I stated earlier that this was already out. Sorry, that is what I was led to believe. My apologies. Joe did go on to say that they've been very cautious about what to announce and when,(because of obvious reasons) and that he feels strongly that within a month,we will see these features. He also guaranteed that after a month if the features haven't been released and I feel I want my money back,he would reimburse me.
Im going to go this route and hopefully everything pans out. Once again,my apologies.

Be careful with joe. There's quite a few customers here that he screwed.

ANMVQ 03-05-2015 11:22 AM

Yea I'd watch it with him, I really didn't get screwed per say I just had to return my ECUTEK and go UPREV, I couldn't get a tune done , I had for like 8 weeks very frustrating! I have thread here about it. I went back to UPREV and went with Seymore and an very happy.

ECUTEK cost too much $$$ for nothing proving. BTW I bud went to local MA tuner to get ECUTEK 2 days ago. He made the apt 2 weeks ago he gets there and 3 hrs later the tuner tells him he can't do it ( NO ROM) and sells him an UPREV tune. I know that falls on the shop and tuner for not checking is VIN for a ROM but just a ECUTEK story ;/

Having worked with him in person, I don't think he's out to screw anyone deliberately. He's very busy, so I've had a difficult time even reaching him on his cell phone. This kind of communication is difficult, especially when doing e-tunes. I think he's screwed people more out of time than actual $$$. I.e. they're not happy with missing features or response time and wind up not using Ecutek.

I've been in contact recently with another local tuner in Austin. The guy told me they have access to the updated features. So I'm questioning what the actual status of the features is now :ugh:

^and he's there most loyal supporter....

Too much hype followed by a lot of promises. Up until NOW nothing new.

Would love to have had this product with the features they promised but since it's been pretty much lies over lies that the one's who brought the hype here are no longer here. I believe even Visconti stated he had more business on other platforms so he wasn't very interested in this platform as much.

Even if it does come out, I'm gonna be skeptical of it. Too many delays and delays and shady practices to build up hype.

Ecutek has never even come on this forum and posted. So I'm wondering what have they done that's shady? Did they delay Z development to focus on other vehicles? Probably, and likely because they could make more money on those vehicles. Can't fault them for that - that's just good business. Did they delay Z development to make sure things work properly upon final release? Maybe, but I still don't see how that's a bad thing.

The tuners are the ones hyping it up. Not Ecutek :twocents:

This. It's such a shame that what could turn out to be a good product has had its name run through the mud by a couple of tuners who, at best, have some follow up and people skills issues.
