Coilovers vs. stock suspension at the track

As I was cleaning receipts from my desk earlier, I was just thinking about the coilovers I spent $2500 on last year. After multiple track days, I got some good

Default Coilovers vs. stock suspension at the track

As I was cleaning receipts from my desk earlier, I was just thinking about the coilovers I spent $2500 on last year. After multiple track days, I got some good data and feedbacks from them. My question is what type of expectation should I have for them from a performance point of view? While the gain will never be as big as tires, but I am curious as to what is the realistic expectation I should have for them. Now that I am stuck in this, wonder if I should go further and finish it off with the control arm. Or maybe I should just buy a fuel pump and get 12 gallons of gas off the rear of the car.

BTw, the CJM rrfp is one of the best mods for this car, I'd put it up there with doing brake fluid,lines and pads and an oil cooler.

I am tempted, freaking started fuel starving after 18 miles with the slicks on the car. It's quite sad.

If you can plot specific changes in various settings to average track times under similar conditions, you should be able to directly test and tune.

I am not hardcore like you guys, so I am always hesitant to drop $1K into the car. I am sitting here debating if I should get the SPL front control arm or the pump instead

Honestly, if you haven't experienced fuel starvation yet, I'd go with playing with the suspension settings further (whether or not you spend money on any new parts).

Gotta get the car turning sharp enough to starve it before worrying about the pump

EDIT: Whoops, I need to read before posting (up for 24 hrs...). Sounds like you need the pump fix then

Ordered the SPL, maybe fuel pump next year. I also thought of a temporary fix I can use, but I wont be able to test anything until next year

How are you not getting killed by fuel starve with track days? I got 2 dots down and starved at the last DE I went too (and was filling up after each session).

Having the power cut while you're in a turn is downright unsafe and results in brown stains in the seat.

I fuel up before each session and i top off during the session, this will get me through for now. If other drivers can get together and force nissan to do a recall, that would be better. I have had the car towed because of it on the street without going over 40mph

If you can keep the fueling stable, play with the adjustable suspension -- check out that link I posted. It really has a ton of useful info, above and beyond the basics of tuning.

The info on how to interpret shock dyno output alone is useful.

Well, assuming you put yours on one, of course -- I tried with mine, and the only shop with a dyno for that in my area didn't have the right components to mount them to it....
