Default VIR on Nov 22+23?

FULL THROTTLE FALL FEST

Quote:
SVT Cobra Mustang Club/Shelby GT500 Club and Track Club USA are proud to present the "Full Throttle Fall Fest."

It is also a "Meet for all Shelby GT500 owners." Owners can have a group photo of their cars on track. Have their cars displayed in the Gallery for Saturday night dinner, and get some on track shots of their cars.

The event will be held at the world class location of Virginia International Raceway in Alton, VA, just east of Danville, VA.

The Fest will consist of two days of open track. Also available will be on site karting, skeet shooting, and more....

The first 20 people to sign up before August 1, 2014 can take a $100.00 discount in leiu of the $45.00 discount provided they mail in a check and a hard copy registration form. The $45.00 discount is good till November 1, 2014 and again is only good with a mail in registration. (You cannot take both discounts) The first 20 people will be listed in this thread and once we reach that number, the $45.00 discount goes into effect.

We will be running the full course on both Saturday and Sunday.
TCUSA is running a 1-2 day event at VIR. I'm going to be registering in the next little bit, but didn't know if anyone else may show up. I never see other 370 guys at the track.

I've run with TCUSA in the past and had a blast, and this will probably be the last day to get on track this season. Come on out!

Wish I could make it. We were at VIR in May and had a blast. I'm planning on going to CMP Dec. 6-7 with a couple other guys, non Z. CMP is pretty close to Charlotte... They run almost all year, & almost every weekend.

CMP is 30 minutes from where my parents live so I get down there fairly often. Fun track if you can afford lots of brake pads!

Of course first timers are allowed! My first HPDE was at VIR. Total cost for 2 days if I remember correctly was $495, 1 day $295. You also have to be a member of TCUSA or the SVT Cobra Mustang club. Club dues are $25. That does not include brake pads, brake fluid, and other things you need for your car or a helmet. It also does not include track insurance if you wish to purchase it. In the past insurance has been around $100 for me.

I'd be fine with 1 day. Other the the stuff you listed, what else would you bring? Also, what does the track insurance cover?

I did VIR first too. You can get all the info here on what you need etc. https://www.trackdaze.com/index.php
You may want to consider an oil cooler, she'll get pretty hot on the track.

It depends on what insurance company and plan you go through, but your normal insurance will not cover anything that happens on track. Vehicle to vehicle contact at an HPDE is pretty rare, so you'd just be getting insurance for any off-track excursions that come up. I probably won't be getting insurance this time around as I didn't push my car 100% last time and still felt fast enough for me. That being said, the last HPDE I was at VIR for, a guy in a mustang slid into a wall - and he was very glad he did have insurance.

Off the top of my head I'd be sure to bring:

1) Standard tools / wrenches / screwdriver / pliers / Torque Wrench etc.
2) Extra Oil, Antifreeze, Brake Fluid, Gear Oil
3) Food and Water
4) Long Pants (cotton/denim), Long Shirt (cotton)
5) SA2005 or SA2010 SNELL Helmet
6) Tire Pressure Gauge
7) Air Pump
8) Windex and Paper Towels, maybe some Rain-X
9) Foldy Chairs
10) +/- Beer for afterwards
11) Gas money. Fuel starve sucks.

To get your car ready for the track you will need brake pads (otherwise you will eat through your OEM ones). High Temp Brake fluid for brakes and clutch. And an oil cooler is recommended to keep the Z from going into limp mode. Not sure if oil heating up will be a problem at the end of Nov though. At VIR they do sell many of the above supplies in the track store, and there is a Dollar Store right down the road.

If you don't have a helmet I can possibly find a spare one for you to use.

Awesome, I was in Raleigh for 9 years in college. (GO WOLFPACK) . I'm trying to move back to the triangle right now actually.
