370Z top speed record?
I searched for a top speed record for ours cars and came up with nothing other than a autobahn run to 175mph.
Has anyone attempted this at bonneville or the texas mile? I would hope that someone with twins would be able to do 200 with a lower final drive. It would be bitchen to see a Z hit 200. |

And our cars won't even break the limiter within a mile TBH, not even with TTs. Ze Germans are your best bet, but I doubt you'll see 200MPH, and I assume some aero is needed at that speed too |
Didn't someone post a track day video at 175 recently? Maybe at Road America?
I don't see why a twin turbo with E85 couldn't get to 175 in a mile. Some math nerd help me out here but if I can do 120 on 93 octane in a 1/4 mile in 4th there is a lot of room for more GO. *Edit: Hell...what did the twins do at ZdayZ on the runway? |

i know for TT G37 it hit 155 but it ran out of room on the road.

Was it E85?
|
i can hit 140 pretty easily :)

Our Z group in Taiwan tested it on highway and the top speed for N/A with full bolt-on is 283 km/h which is almost 177mph.

Hitting 200mph takes power and aero. After 180 you have to push hard to hit 200 and beyond that you have to seriously increase horse power to make the smallest gains!

Didn't the 350 cut out at 169
|
Plus how does a car feel after 160? Got to be intense
|
I have been up to 160 at 440whp. And definitely had a good amount of throttle left actually more throttle than balls. When I'm going so fast that the lines on the highway turn into one solid line and I'm too afraid to look down for a split second to see how fast I'm going then I back off of it. It only takes a small rock or bird or whatever to end your life.

I've done 145 in this stock Roadster and it felt like there was plenty left, but fear of over driving the headlights and small game in the road caused me to back down. What an adrenaline rush! We have lots of flat roads with miles of good asphalt/straightaway here in North Florida;).

Well the only place to safely test this out is really bonnevile or the Texas mile. I'm sure with the right sponsors and team this could be achieved. Road kill guys hit 217mph in a 1200hp camero so i guess that mark is phucking hard to get.

day 1 of owning my Z i hit the limiter.
tuned and limiter removed hit 170+ couldnt get a exact read at that speed while watching the road. car feels solid at high speeds. 120 feels like 70. sadly the one day doing a pull at around 150 the ducati i was playing with just walked away from me lol :( |

Id be curious to see how accurate this thing is I made. Most of you have probably already seen it. All the data you really need is on the first sheet and you can scale the hp curve with cell B10 or change it to mirror your dyno graph. Its just simple physics applied to our car. You can change the air density and CD of the car as well as the frontal area to see how it affects the acceleration of the car.
A stock car shows about ~170mph. You can scale up the hp as needed to see what it takes to clear 200mph. 420hp to the wheels would eventually reach 200mph in gear 6 with a FD of 3.357. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxG...it?usp=sharing |
Yeah but what did it take for the GTR to get to 200? Didn't it take 1000hp or was that to get it to 200 on the track (that long straight in Japan)?

I have raced to 175ish a few times, but my comfort zone for full throttle speeds on the stock engine is in the 150s.
I feel like the power I am making is already stress enough on the connecting rods and pistons. Adding in all the accelerative resistance from aero and gearing, I fear that somewhere in there I might be approaching the point where bending the rods becomes easier work than quickly accelerating the crankshaft. I dont usually stay in the throttle heavy in 6th gear for very long... and I dont usually have the space to bring it way up there slowly. |

In case you haven't seen the movie 40 year old virgin there is a part in that movie that FPenvy and I were quoting just to have a little fun. So I used part of that back and forth to respond to your comment. Like I said all in good fun. |
Several production cars get to just over 200mph with a little more than 600 hp. I suspect it would take about that to get the Z there. 600 hp should be about 480 whp on a Z.
Viper 206 mph 640 hp SRT Hellcat 204 mph 707 hp ZR1 Corvette 205 mph 638 hp |

Can confirm a stock Nismo will do 155 without difficulty.
