Should I buy camber arms??
Lol no this is not the 100 millionth thread on camber arms.
After 2 way coil install I went and got an alignment. I lowered the front an inch from where I was with swift spec R's. I think my front turned out perfect with zero modification! I know some of you run more negative so you'll say buy them but what about caster? I think I saw someone run a high as 7*. So far I'm not complaining. It feels pretty good where its at. I'm happy to finally have decent numbers! I told him slight toe out in the front, slight toe-in in the rear, and got 1* difference front to rear. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps280fa5b2.jpg |
That looks decent to me. Looks like you managed to pick up a fair amount of front camber just from the drop. I run mine with a lot more caster (that's the 7 you're probably referring to) and may eventually add a touch more front camber (e.g. 3-ish). The big advantage of the SPL (or similar) front camber arms, IMHO, is being able to add a ton of caster in place of excessive camber.

Why do we need caster?

Caster a way to get more dynamic camber in corners. Basically, a bunch of camber rocks in the corners, but sucks in the straights. By increasing caster you get more extra front camber only during cornering that goes away when you straighten the wheel. The downside is the more caster you add, the heavier the steering effort feels.

With SPL arms my last alignment was -2.3 camber and 8 caster. You'll never get too much caster. More dynamic camber lets you take out camber, giving you better straight line (braking) grip. Ideally you'd have like 15 caster and 0 camber. This is why DTM cars have much less static camber than say a V8 super car (DTM rules allow for more castor).
But your alignment looks great. If you can stay with the stock arms, do so. They are VERY light. |
I have to agree with the others with the front. I'm running -2 camber and +6 caster.
