Track Hazard...Oh My

A guy showed this to me at work today. I would guess this is Georgia, Virginia or Mid-West somewhere. Any 370z brothers at this event? Beware the white tails guys.

you would think the track would at least put up a tall perimeter fence when they know deer live in the area

I've seen deer at work go over a 10ft chain link fence with barb wire on top of it. So.....how high do you want to make the fence. LOL

Nothing like turning deer into pink mist.

I know how that guy feels after hitting a few myself. My personel count on road kill. My '99 Ram - 3 deer at one time. My '08 Power Wagon - 6 different deer. One cow with motorcycle too.

Road America actually has one. When I do some flagging, there are some gates you go through that have MANY warning signs to close behind you!

Deer are a fact of life at Summit Point. I have seen a group pass in front of me as I headed down the front straight to turn 1 only to have them reemerge at turn 3.

The trick is to try and have a plan already in your head on what you are going to do if one runs in front of you.

Braking as much as you can and hitting a deer straight on will cause a lot of damage to the front of your car (and you may miss it because the Deer will probably keep moving in the same direction). Swerving to avoid one and going two wheels off will likely result in you being on your roof in the tire barrier.

I think you can deduce what option I would take.

That's messed up!

What happens to the car now? I doubt insurance will cover track use?

Dear load summit point. I had a fellow racer pass hitting the bridge before the front straight, the instructor just passed, now this! Yikes. The deer came from the infield too. Right there on the front straight is where everyone parks and camps. Must of came from turn 2 heading out.

It was summit point at a PCA event. My father was there. They are really trying to get something done about this, but short of fence the whole damn place in what can you do?
