Conti 150 at Watkins Glen
Huge congrats to BJ Zacharias, Brad Jaeger and the whole Doran Racing team for their second place finish in yesterday's Conti 150 at Watkins Glen! It came down to the very last lap and if it weren't for some slow traffic a 1st place finish looked likely. Awesome racing. Exciting finish. Well done!
I'm off to shoot today's 6 Hours Of The Glen but this link is to a few shots of BJ and Brad from practice Friday and yesterday's race. 2014 Conti 150 Challenge - WGI - michaeloconnor |

Thanks guys... It was truly an awesome race. The last 30 minutes were some of the most fun I have ever enjoyed behind the wheel.
Its def worth a watch on broadcast. The last lap was insane... Just kept digging and got a chance to take a shot in the final corner... Just a couple feet short Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I think its gonna be on July 6 at fox sports 1.

In case you're interested I have posted several more images from the Conti 150 Friday practice and Saturday race including the Tower Event's #41 Z and Tim Bell's two Zs
2014 Conti 150 Challenge - WGI - michaeloconnor The images of the 41 Nismo's spin heading into the esses was in Friday's practice - not the front straight melee at the start of Saturday's race. Just a light tap into the guardrail - nothing like what happened Saturday. BJ, if you're still monitoring this thread, what the hell happened at the start? I was shooting at Turn 9 and didn't see anything. Next thing I knew there was a full course caution before a single lap was complete. |
Rum Bum brake checked at the start... and 41 missed a gear. The mustang behind the 41 ..bumped him once... And then went to the middle of the track when the gear was missed. The mustangs right front tire hit 41s right rear braking the steering of the mustang. It went up in the air and when it came down... It shot hard right smashing the 41... Which then shot it drivers left hard and caused a chain reaction.
It was ugly. The team is thraaaaashing right now to build our 3rd chassis to replace 41 for Mosport next week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Driving skills and a lot of luck should be the game changer to win, |
But what really puzzle me is how the Kia optima at the world series could be that fast and win races!

Ok so it goes the engine does make a big difference! I guess I'm prejudice with car brands, just couldn't accept a Korean car trashing other high end euro and japo cars. |

The Z28r weighs 3500 lbs and runs a restrictor
The Z weighs 2850 and is allowed a lot more as far as engine restrictions (HR heads, cams, headers etc) We were averaging about ..5-1.25 a seconds per lap the last 30 minutes once their tires start to go off. Its a huge chess game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
