Nismo 370z question?

Hey guys,

I'm new to the nissan world and I really do enjoy them! I have a buddy who has a Nismo 370Z I'm not quite sure what year it is but it's very nice.

His mods are as follows: Dual cold air intakes, test pipes, and no tune.

What should that car run in the 1/4 mile "E.T" and more importantly what would his trap speed mph be??

Reason I ask is because I was very impressed with how he kept up with me on the "highways of mexico" being he's only a v6 motor. Your cars are very very impressive! :)

XxACExX 12-11-2013 10:34 PM

I am happy that you are impressed with the z! The more important question is what were you driving? If you say an frs or genesis then I can understand your bewilderment as to how he could keep up with you-lol

By his name I would guess an STI.

By his previous post he has a BPU++ supra and a 2012 Z...which is weird because OP said he's new to the Nissan world.

stifun 12-12-2013 12:11 AM

I still have the Supra, but I had the 370z... didn't drive it much and traded it in b/c it was too impractical for me at the time.

I now drive a '12 VW Golf R. :) And at the time I encountered this car I was in the Golf R. Before you guys get all shocked the Golf is not stock by any means.

XxACExX 12-12-2013 01:11 AM

In your initial post you say that you were surprised that a v6 motor could keep up with you but now your saying that you were in a golf. Do you have 1 of those new v8 golfs they just come out with?

Gadgetech 12-12-2013 05:13 AM

I can see his surprise, it has a 0-60 time of only 6.2 seconds for a $34,000, turbo charged 2.0 Golf (???). What? I don't think so!

A modded Golf R moves.

So you owned a 370, but you're shocked how well the Nismo kept up? It's not that much faster than the one you claimed to have owned. Math's not adding up.

I thought you said it was your brother's?

Sh0velMan 12-12-2013 08:21 AM

If it's not a 13 (or is it 14?) golf R, it's slow.

That's all I came here to say. Carry on.

zmanelite 12-12-2013 08:34 AM

This golf gti is special tho as it has VTEC

Hey that 0.1 difference makes all the world of difference to me LOL!

No. The Golf R is a Golf R it's not an R32 like the 2008 and 2004 models. This year comes with a 2.0L turbocharged motor. The older generations were all 3.2L 6 cylinder motors. :)

My current Golf R is APR Stage 2+ which equates to around 360hp ish or so. Don't get me wrong I still love the Z it's a FANTASTIC car, but I needed more practicality so I got this 4 door golf instead.

The looks of the Nismo 370Z are just amazing! I might get some heat for what I'm about to say..... but, I think the Nismo 370Z is WAYYYYYYYYYYY better looking then the R35 GTR's. Yup, that's right... I said it! ;)

My brother just purchased a new Golf R 4DR Loaded.

He was considering a touring/sport 370Z 6spd and they are really nice car's but he decided on the VW made a better DD and it has planty of tuning potential.

So far he loves it.

This car is not predisposed to straight line acceleration due to several reasons.

Track prep and weather are huge factors, so here's about the most accurate answer you can expect:

Faster than 15 seconds, slower than 12.5 seconds.

This help?

You sir are a douchebag!

All I wanted to know is what are the typical stats of this particular car at the 1/4 mile track. Whether you guys have stats on a stock one or a slightly modded one like this one. I'd like to ideally know the stats of one like this one since I ran one with these mods.

But whatever.....

Sorry your previous post suggest that you were a troll or a little boy making stuff up, so forgive us for being a little doubtful.

A little research and logic will yield below:

APR stage 2++ on a dyno jet, 3 pulls, call it an even 320awhp and 340awtq.

2013 VW Golf.:R APR Stage II+ AWD Dyno - YouTube

Bone stock Nismo on a dyno jet goes for about 290ish whp.

So, a slightly modded Nismo, say add 10 or so whp, from a roll, logically should do an ok job at keeping your Golf in sight?

NissanGuy23 12-12-2013 06:33 PM

A bad run you'll do low 14s, a good run you'll do 13.7-ish, a really good run you'll do low 13s, some have gotten high 12s. Depends on skill level.

You know there is a STICKY to answer your question at the top of the track page

Which he apparently found, read, posted in and then made this thread anyway. I must be missing something here.
