Driver Education, short for High Performance Driver Education, or more simply put, lapping days on a road course.

I fall into that category. Going to Barber Motorsports Park this weekend in my Vette, but I have a friend coming with, and I think I may have him drive the Z instead of his car and see if I can't take it out for a session fairly stock to see how it does.

looks like we need to add more forms of racing to the survey... including ones above and time trial and wheel-wheel racing

so, havasu... I'm still kinda new to arizona... wassup with all the sandcars ? i was driving back from vegas recently and there were literally legions of them being trailered up and down the highway... must be really big here huh ? is there a definitive website where I can look into it ? and also, why do so many of them look like golfcarts!?

I do Drag race at local tracks.. I will try to make it to an Autobahn Track day next year

I am planning on finally doing some trackdays again next year, most likely at Autobahn Country Club or Blackhawk Farms. It's about time, the last trackday I did was in 2006 at the Zandvoort circuit.

i might do some track days at Road Atlanta but thats about it

Planning on going to the motor sports park here in Jersey before school starts!

I race motorcycles...but I guess that doesn't count :-P

What are you racing? I was running a prepped Duc 900 (380lbs, 85hp) 10 years ago. I still have it and use it as a track bike.

az has lots of sandcars because you can make them street legal,also glamis sand dunes just past yuma,open riding area,no speed limits:ughdance::ughdance: my car has 550hp weighs 2700# has 25" of wheel travel =fast fun:woot:web site is morphicind.com

I race CCS Mid-Atlantic (middleweight/heavyweight)...although I'm taking the next couple of seasons off since I won't have time to race. On the flip side, when I come back I'll be on an 09 R6 which will be built up. I've been racing an 05 R6 which is STOCK so that will be a nice change. Even stock I still went top 20 in every class I raced so I can't wait to roll out on a full race bike :tup:

I'll bring this thread back since no one's posted anything for a minute.. I went to Irwindale the other day and decided I would run my Z .. First time drag racing and it was an experience .. I enjoyed it and will probably do it again...

I'm a new Z owner and definitely want to start off with some autox. I've done plenty of drag and "balls to the wall" canyon driving with my 2001 AWD A4 but nothing on the track or autox. I'm older and wiser now but I definitely want to do autox and slowly build the car for the track while learning its intricacies.

So are there any autox events near southern cal you guys attend? where do I sign up?

has anyone raced the new WRX just the base not the sti, i have a friend keeps trying to talk **** saying the WRX is faster then a 370z

I'm in both the 370z world and the Subaru world... Unmodified on the track, my guess is that the 370z would would be faster than the WRX. The 370z powerwise is well over 300hp, the WRX is at 268. The 370 also only needs to put power down to 2 wheels, not 4, so there is less driveline loss. Weight is about the same for both.

With that said, in a "race" situation it would come down to driver, road conditions (debris, rain, etc) and tires to see who would win a race.

This is all based on road racing scenarios as opposed to drag or street.

i was doing the power to weight ratio for both cars and the 370z hands down is better

HP / Weight

WRX

265hp / 3174lbs = .0834

370z base

332hp / 3232lbs = .1027

370z nismo

350hp / 3300lbs = .1060

Only been to one HPDE so far, but I WILL be back. Many, many times :tup:

With that said, I've been on track with a few NISMO 350zs in my 05 LGT Wagon with minor suspension upgrades and Brembo Brakes, putting out about 240hp/3400+ lbs and drove around the NISMO 350s. So a lot has to do with driver as well.
