Default Carry race tires + storing sideways or straight up?

I am looking to keep my trailer in storage along with some of my tools and the tires. Do you guys recommend laying the tires sideways or straight up for carrying and storing. I am thinking about laying them down and have them stack 2x2 on the trailer. It will use up a lot of space, but I don't think I have any choice. I will also put a piece of pressure treated wood under the tires. What do you guys think?

I'm not a tire expert, but I would imagine on their side would be better, or straight up but rotate them every once and a while. I normally keep mine on their side.

I don't think it matters. Straight up on a rack is what the pro teams do but that is probably more due to accessibility. If you look at a warehouse like Tire Rack they leave them on their sides. I've always stored mine sideways, usually four high, in a closet. If you can bag them airtight that is even better.

Vacuum sealed comes to mind.

In my garage, I stack them on their sides, 4 high.

On my trailer, I have to also stack them and strap them down, but I do two on one side of the trailer and 3 on the other (the 3rd is one of my stock Porsche Cayenne wheels, as it comes with an inflatable spare, and I don't want to use that if I am towing.)
