^ Did I see your speedometer correctly? Did you pull 130 mph through T1 & T2? Damn, I thought I was doing good maintaining 100-110 mph through the same section.

clintfocus 09-10-2013 09:51 PM

that's actually 140 on the speedo ;) but from reviewing my data i think our speedos get a little inaccurate that high, my GPS logger had me at like 135ish

Nice, either way its quick!

my oval entry was a bit shallow since i hadnt been there in so long, reducing my overall speed, ill work on that next time

Did this track for the first time this weekend, lot of fun. Missed you by a week Clint and I had martin instructing me. He taught me the same lines, but he did teach me to ride a bit higher through turn 1(maybe because stock suspension?).

I was playing w 2 vs 3rd gear on turn 3, I like the idea of using it at the hairpin as well if necessary like you did a few times.

Why do you prefer to stay low on main straight and T1/2?

My best time was a 2:11 which I don't think is too shabby for a newbie that is mainly stock and the first time I did the track. I think I can probably get down around 2:05 but then I think suspension/brakes would limit me. I definitely learned the extent of my suspension on this track. The sweeper/U-turn is definitely a place I could pick up some speed, and I was staying below 130 per martin's advice on turn 1/2 but I could definitely have gone faster.

yeah if your car has less over all grip (from either lack of suspension mods and/or tire grip) then a higher turn 1 entry is better/safer, since it widens the turn out and you use the down hill of the oval to your advantage. the disadvantage is you have a longer distance to travel. so its all strategy figuring out how low in the oval you can go without causing you to scrub speed and/or lose traction.

i used 3rd in turn 3-4, 2nd in the hair pin. 3rd had enough power band to pull me out of 4 fine.

i stay low on the oval straight cause its a shorter distance to travel. i was on the lower side of turn 1-2 oval because honestly, i hadnt been on ACS for 2.5 years, never been there with the Z ever, i was playing it safe and didnt wanna be that close to the wall lol.

for ACS specifically, i need a more aggresive front pad, i was losing alot of time in the brake zones

Thanks man, good info. I did hit second a few times on T3, but later in the day decided to stay in 3rd. I am still 50/50 on it but the problem is really suspension. I body roll like a MoFo in turn 3 to make that little tuck move to line up 4. I hit the 4 exit correctly only once and understand it, but most of the time I just got too wiggly in T3 to really exit correctly. Only other option is to scrub more speed and hit 2nd gear to exit.

T1 T2 I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable on, the highest speed I remember seeing was ~130 and I went to 3/4 throttle just to be safe.

Tires were not the problem, brakes and suspension I definitely felt the limitations-much more than any other track I have been on. ACS will definitely check your hardware and lives up to its name as a professional racetrack.

That being said I don't think I have ever had more fun in my life lol. Hope to see you out at a track day soon.
