BJ Zacharias and pole sitter Bryan Heitkotter finished third in the dominant No. 14 Doran Racing Nissan 370Z, followed by Pumpelly and Jim Norman. Mark Boden – seeking his third consecutive victory – finished fifth with substitute driver David Donohue in the No. 46 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3.
Heitkotter (17) and Zacharias (6) combined to lead a race-high 23 laps, while Pumpelly led 15. Plumb led only the final three circuits. |

4.5 miles short today...but hopefully the monkey has found a new home.
With the highest rpms..and the smallest fuel capacity..its a crazy game out there and Fr once it stayed green. Bryan did an excellent job on his opening stint...and Doran racing setup a beautiful chassis for the conditions. Road America is notorious for getting slick and sloppy espc with heavy cars. This strategy played out and let us have a very competitive car. After our final pitstop for a fuel load of fuel... We were 50+ seconds down from the leaders with 20 laps remaining. Thanks again to Nissan Motorsports / Nismo and the GT Academy. Doran racing has built an extremely potent 370Z RC. So stoked for this team...the crew did a fan-tab-ulous job. |

One thing is for sure when other teams can go 20-30min longer on fuel then you can your at a significant disadvantage. They have 1 stop races and while tires do become an issue at the end you simply cannot make up for track position not to mention taking tires on your 2nd stop (all 4 anyways) would be disastrous for track position. Regardless good work B.J. Its tough to try to push to catch up the entire time on old tires! 3rd is something to be proud of given the disadvantage on fuel you guys faced! P.S. Do you think if you would have taken just left side tires when you did your 2nd fuel stop it would have made any difference on the day? Last edited by Fishey; 08-12-2013 at 10:38 AM. |

Well if you play the hindsight game Doran should not have backtimed thier stop and instead waited until almost empty and then pit so they could have a splash and dash stop like most of the other cars. That quicker stop plus the slowing Rum-Bum might have kept Doran in the lead.
But then if you do that the sure as **** a yellow would have been thrown, giving everyone else enough yellow to make it to the end and then Doran would get a 13th place again. |

Highest reving smallest displacement and smallest fuel capacity.
Just trying to enjoy the podium at the moment and give the crew and team something to hang their hats on. Focusing on the week ahead and see if we can step a little higher on the podium at Kansas Speedway this weekend. |
