Help with Classing? Solo
I'm having trouble figuring out what class my car should be in. I was running C stock, but I've sinced moved to STU and was told that wouldn't work. At the last event I ran, they put me into B Street Prepared.
When I look at the SCCA Rule book it looks like I can fit into STR (unfortunately my tires are too wide) or A street prepared. My car has the following: 255 front tires (hankook R-S3's) 285 rear tires (hankook R-S3's) BC BR Coilovers Stillen CAI Fast Intentions test pipes and catback 25 row Z1 oil cooler

Are there no other options? What if I put my cats back on?

In order to get back to STR (I believe that's the ST class the 370z is legal for) you'd have to put the cats back on, remove the oil cooler, and get the proper size wheels and tires for the class. Also if your coilovers are true type coilovers in the rear then those would have to go too (true types in the rear aren't even legal in ASP iirc).
IMHO SCCA Solo classing really sucks for the Z34.

The stillens cai put you in ASP too. Intake cannot be modified in stock class other then drop in filters. No MAF tubes either. To pull off STR, you Max wheel width is 9" and a 255 tire. With the throttle control your gonna need with a 255 on the rears, its not going to be much fun and you won't be very fast. I'm just doing it for fun. gear swap puts me in FP lol!!

Geeze I should just stick with HPDE haha.
I'll stick with ASP, I don't feel like un-modifying my car in order to be in a more competetive class. Perhaps I'll get some R-comps once I kill my R-S3's.

When you actually get around to getting a new set of rubber I'd suggest going with a square setup. My car felt a million times better with the square setup versus the factory stagger.

What kind of offset are you running? Do you have any issues rubbing up front?

+30 Front, +18 Rear
I haven't noticed any signs or sounds of rubbing. I'm at factory ride height fwiw. Got the wheels from vivid racing. TE37SL's in Track Sizing and Limited Colors

This has probably been covered but here it is again. You might want to look at the rules for STR, FP, and SSM, see if that works out for you.
B stock (BS) is for the Nismo C stock (CS) is for all the other 370Z's A Street Perpared (ASP) is the next step up for the Nismo and all other 370Z's. Street Touring Roadster (STR) non-Nismo models and there is a max width of 255mm on tires. F Perpare (FP) Also you should be able to run Super Street Modified (SSM) (there is a max width of 275mm on tires.)<-- wrong) (right --> (if you run a tire with a width of 275mm or less you can minus -200lbs) Last edited by Apollo8642; 07-08-2013 at 06:44 PM. |

This is not true. There is a 200 lbs weight break for cars that use less than 275 width tires but you can run as big as you want to with no penalty.
