Data Logging
Starting to look into getting a data logging system for AutoX purposes. Currently looking at the Race Keeper SE-10. Plan would be to use the OBDII adapter to capture throttle and steering angle (still need to see if steering angle is avail over OBDII) and probably just wire a digital brake input for the moment. Definitely like the integrated video capture with up to 4 cameras (Only 2 at a time).
Anybody have any experience/suggestions with logging systems that might work well in this application?

Steering Angle isn't available so far as I know.
Those systems are damned nice, I'm going to try and make do with various smartphone-based solutions for as long as I can... |

I'm pretty sure DR_ uses the Race Keeper Black Edition and likes it. If he doesn't see this thread, you might search or PM him about it. I don't have any personal experience, sorry

I only use Harrys Lap Timer at this point. I had a DL1 back when I raced wheel to wheel but even then it wound up being used more of a advanced lap timer then for getting data that I could actually benifit from. Unless you have engineers looking over the data and mechanics to make adjustments I think there is very little benifit to be had.

Regardless of what you buy, make sure you download the demo of the software to make sure you can use it. As DR said, you don't want too much data that you can't dissect it.

I use the AiM Solo DL which captures all the data you asked for, throttle position, brake pressure, steering angle, wheel speed sensors, RPM, as well as all the GPS data for lat/long G's, position, true speed etc.
You have to capture the video separately with this one, but the price is right. I use a GoPro for the video, but if you like it easy buy the AIM SmartyCam setup and connect them together. Here's a sample of the video medley of the AiM Solo with GoPro video, rendered together with RaceRender.

I'll add that the AiM analysis software is quite powerful but a little tricky to learn. The basics are easy but I'm still finding new features all the time
