New Jersey Motorsports Park - Track event with COM Sports Car Club July 18-19

COM Sports Car Club of New England is hosting an event at New Jersey Motorsports Mark, Lightning on July 18-19.

This is a competitive event with the optional time-trial/time-attack run on the afternoon of day 2. Novice and experienced drivers are welcome alike. All novice drivers will be assigned instructors for one or both days as needed.
Cost for the event is $225 for one day or $425 for both days, and folks that have never ran with us are eligible for the new member $100 discount!

So far we have < 40 drivers registered so it is forecast that we will get a lot of track time!

See the full event schedule here:

damn, I picked a bad month to quit my job and try to continue going to track events, 1 a month has been current pace. If I can get sorted within the next couple of weeks, i'd love to try lightning as I've done thunderbolt twice and that's pretty sweet.

Hope you can make it.

Lightning has a few similar challenging elements, blind over crest and complex multi apex corner. My favorite though is the fast and long lightbulb banked turn. Gotta run with a full tank since it's a fuel starve killer. The track is a little bit shorter than thunderbolt so perhaps easier to learn.

One of these days I'm going to make it out there. I'm not gonna make it to Calabogie this year either unfortunately.

I agree with you. That long lightbulb is freaking awesome!!! I have pretty much mastered it now. I was pulling away in the lightbulb from my buddies '11 e92 m3 (but he always gets me in the straight :(. Da*n v8). Absolutely full tank, no excuse. Both elevated right hand turn (after long straight and before that shorter straight) needs to be taken carefully. If not, car will slide out of control. I HATE running in summer because of not having oil cooler :(. I have to pit in like after 10 minute. I actually only run in March/April and Sept/oct :(. So I don't know if I can make it to this but I live only 40 minutes from here. I may come spectate for a few hours (if I'm free)

No oil cooler - ouch. Yeah I wouldn't even try in the summer, on the hottest days I can't get much more than 10 minutes with the oil cooler :icon17:

It would be great if you came down, does NJMP require a guest list? Need to get a few 370Z's signed up to drive as well to make your trip worth it. I can get you signed up for a hot lap ride along as well, although early morning is best for that.

Hmm sense this is so close to my house I may have to stop in and say hi.

Eighties Meta 06-28-2013 11:33 AM

I'll do my best to see if I can make it. I'll need new brake pads and fluidat a minimum because its been two track days probably time for a pre-track inspection. I really wanna try lighting looks alot faster than thunderbolt.

Yeah it's a fast momentum track, most corners hit the sweet spot for our cars nicely. Hope you can make it.

Official sign-up closes next Friday July 5th. Late sign-up may be available after that by request but best to be on-time if you can.

Here's a video of my TT there 2 years ago.

For the rest of you sign up has been extended until Friday the 12th.

I wish I had the cash for this right now. This looks like amazing fun, and I've always wanted to run NJMP.

Have a blast, ChrisSlicks, and maybe I'll join you guys for another one down the line :D

You can do a single day for only $160 (225 - 100 + 35). But yeah, I hear ya, by the time you add in gas, brakes and other expenses it gets pricy.

ChrisSlicks 07-12-2013 11:40 AM

FYI there is a guest list requirement for this track (the track's policy not ours). If you wish to attend as a spectator please PM me your real name so I can provide it to the event coordinator.

Also we will be offering hot-lap ride along sessions on Thursday, and maybe Friday. For $35 you ride along for a full session (or as much as you can stomach) with one of our instructors in their race car. The fee actually signs up up as a member of the club for the year which we need for insurance purposes.
