Taking the Roadster to the dragstrip....advice?
so this will be the 1st time i've ran the quarter mile in almost 10 yrs. the last time was with my G35c...and it wheel hopped something serious. i felt bad for her...
i just want to get a baseline before i add mods (GTM groupbuy!!!). any suggestions as to launch RPMs? i guess half the fun is figuring it all out. should be a fun time in Commerce. this is really more about seeing what my brother's CTS-V will do. i just dont wanna be left outta the fun...

Prepare for ferocious wheel hop if you over-cook the launch.
the key is to find the rpm where you can drop the clutch and take off without bogging or inducing wheel hop. Some experimentation is necessary. |

From what I've seen on here the best is 3000-3500rpm feather. I'm been able to do it with little wheel spin on the street. But track I didn't work for me so for consistency I do 2k clutch drop.

I made 4 passes. On the first 3....waaaaay too much wheelspin. So much so on one attempt...after spinning all the way to redline...I aborted the run. On my last attempt...I finally felt I got a good launch. 2.1xx on my 60 ft time. And then I missed 2nd gear. I....was....furious. Best time ended up being a 14.1 at 98 mph. Sadder day for ol Rick. One thing that made feel better is that everyone was saying the track was 'slow'. High humidity and reading (thru some guy's app) 2840 ft above sea level. My brother, who has a modded CTS-V wagon that is putting down over 550 to the wheels, was only able to scratch a 12.7 at 112. He should easily be trapping in the 117 area. So...other than me just being a ****ty driver...there's my other excuse. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA But it was fun. Still need to learn how to cut a good light. And maybe...just maybe....I can get comfortable enough to where my foot isn't shaking when i pull up to the tree.
