Default Harry's Laptimer + Kiwi Plex Wifi Setup

I hope someone who has this setup could help me out a bit.

I have Harry's Laptimer with Kiwi Plex Wifi Setup and want to know the refresh rate setting you guys found that works well with the RPM and throttle position.

Here's a link on the Harry's Laptimer Forum that discuss this topic, but I couldn't find our 370z on that list. Any help would be great.

Link

The OBD update rate varies a lot by car connected to. LapTimer is optimized to get the best possible update rate for RPM and Throttle position. All other values are retrieved at lower update rates to get the best for RPM / Throttle. This is what I have seen so far:

2005 Porsche 911 C2 1.4Hz
2011 Porsche 911 GTS 7.0Hz
2007 Volvo C30 2.0d 6.0Hz

Please let me know what you have seen.

- Harry

-------------- Full list collected from thread --------------
2005 Porsche 911 C2 - 1.4 Hz
2011 Porsche 911 GTS - 7.0 Hz (10-11Hz with OBDLink)
2007 Volvo C30 2.0d - 6.0 Hz
2005 Clio Sport - 0.8 Hz
2006 Renault Clio C - 10.0 Hz
2011 BMW 335i - 8.0 Hz
2005 Lotus Elise - 2.0 Hz
2001 BMW 325Ci - 1.3 Hz
2009 Corvette - 8.0 Hz
2003 Honda S2000 - 1.5 Hz
2011 Ford GT500 - 5.5-6.0 Hz

Actually I'm not even sure if there's anything I could do to compensate for the refresh rate. I just know that when I overlay the video with the throttle position and RPM it doesn't align with the sound. The only place I can see to change settings for the OBD Kiwi in Harry's Laptimer is shown below:

Do you guys have the same settings?

An example of the refresh rate I was talking about earlier is shown here:

Do you have the Kiwi 1 or 2?

I have been playing around with some of the track apps and I have the OBDII PLX Kiwi 2 Wifi. I like Harrys Lap Timer, except that it relies on the GPS refresh rate to recorded data.

I have an iPhone 4s and the internal GPS refreshes its self once a second or 1 Hz, my OBDII Kiwi 2 refreshes 6 times a second or 6 Hz. Since Harrys Lap Timer is heavily GPS based its only recording data once a second and dropping a lot from the OBDII. It even drops a lot of the accelerometer data, it refreshes at 31 Hz.

The only way to get Harrys to record data quicker is to get an external Bluetooth GPS with a higher refresh rate and then it will look better because its not skipping all the info in between those seconds.

I have been the apps for autocross, a lot can happen in one second. I have been using DashCommand on my phone, it is more expensive. It records based off the OBDII refresh rate, but does not have the lap features Harrys has. I haven't tried the Rev app just because I saw it hasn't been updated in a long time.

Race Render makes Track Addict HD for the Iphone ... I use it but I am not sure if the refresh is better, same or worse than Harry's.

To figure how much its recording just export your data into a csv file and look at the time stamp and how many lines it records. I saw there was a free version of Track Addict, I might try to play with it tomorrow.

This is an example of Harrys lap timer with the Kiwi 2, it just does a line every second (bigger size http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...r.png~original )

Here is Dash Command with the Kiwi 2, I havnt figure out what every line is like the ABS stuff. I highlighted just 1 second out of the file. ( bigger size http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...r.png~original )

You need an external GPS for the phone, 1hz is only good enough to do lap times

I have the Kiwi Plex 2 Wifi but the refresh rate is kind of slow. I recently bought a bluetooth external Dual XGPS 150 too, but it doesn't fix the issue. It seems like during the real time recording, I can see the throttle blip after changing the sensor delay for kiwi Plex obd to "0 sec" the rpm gauge relatively pairs up with what I'm doing too. But that's real time when I'm driving when recording.

But I don't believe when it's time to overlay its using as much data points to overlay onto the video. Because I cannot see the throttle blip in the overplayed video. Which only makes me feel like the rpm isn't too accurate. Has anyone been able to successfully see a throttle blip or get Harry's lap timer to capture and pair up anything in fast response in there video?
