I just got my ride (2010 roadster), and will have to consider getting AMS OIL 5w-30. I live in Texas, HOT in summer, so hopefully this will help or prevent

I have a '12 an added a 25R oil cooler and switched to Valvoline 10W30 VR1 Racing Synthetic. So far all is well. I, too, daily drive mine and will be doing occasional track events.
Spirited flogging through the twists so far has gotten me no more than 215 degrees. It isn't tracking but I'm still finding it very difficult to get the temps over that point. Combination of the stock cooler and an outboard cooler seem to be pretty good. Just try not to go on long drives without a cover. No oil consumption to note yet either. And the slight ticking I had has gone away. I can still hear the valves and cam doing their thing but no ticking like I heard with the stock fill. |

Regarding Mobil 1
There is more than one Mobil 1. There is the normal auto parts store version and there is also Mobile 1 4T which is targeted at high performance sport bikes and auto racing. The 4T is about double the price of the normal consumer Mobil 1. The Mobile 1 MX4T (as it was called then) is the oil I saw stacked up in cases in the pits of Texas Motor Speedway during a NASCAR race a few years ago. So I believe that could be the version of Mobile 1 used in big time racing. It appears to be available with API ratings of SM (small quantities of extreme pressure additives) and SH (larger quantities of extreme pressure additives).

DON"T! use motorcycle oil in your car! 98% of the motorcycles out there have a wet clutch in them. Meaning that the engine oil is also the transmission oil too. and the clutch is bathed in it too. So the oil designed for that type of set-up has different elements in it. What's good in a car engine, is not good for the clutch plates in the bike. Over time the clutch will slip. So what's good for a bike, is not that great for a car motor. I'm keeping this simple.
Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 is recommended for 4-cycle motorcycles which specify the use a 10W-40 engine oil. This oil will help provide excellent performance in motorcycle engines that are designed with a common engine/transmission lubrication system or where the engine lubrication system is separate from the transmission system. In the case of the latter, follow the manufacturer's recommendation for the type of fluid to be used in the transmission. Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 engine oil is designed to help provide the proper frictional characteristics necessary for wet-clutch common engine/transmission systems. It has been fully tested, both on laboratory dynamometers and in the field, to help provide optimum horsepower and acceleration

Motul has a 0w40 that is specifically recommended for the 370z. It's about $60 for a 5 liter jug... (5.1 quarts) Just enough for a complete oil change (if you don't have an oil cooler). I'm trying it this weekend. Motul makes all of Nissans oil. Including the super duper Estér Oil.

ok im a little confuse now after reading all this thread hahaha!! I use Mobil1 synthetic oil 5w30 Extended Performance since I buy my Z.... I would use Amsoil or even Motul but to find those oils here in Puerto Rico is very difficult Well I use my car as my Daily Driven and some sprinted or track days sometimes... My question is... If I change now to Mobil1 0w40 they are going to work better than the 5w30 that is the one recommended for Nissan to our engines? the temps over here are arround 70+ to 95 degrees and in summer on a very hot day you can see temps on 100 degrees
Any help or recommendation are welcome... BTW the oil cooler are on my wish list as soon my new damn wheels arrive someday Thanks! |
