First 1/4 mile outing. Very Humbling...
Hey all. Let me start out by saying that ive never raced the 1/4 mile before. Don't rag on me too bad. First run, no traction through first gear. Ran a 14.2 with a trap speed of 103... Second run was an even worse 14.4 with a slightly higher trap speed... Now this is where it gets interesting. I started hitting my starts pretty well, but kept on missing 4th gear... Did a 13.978 at 96.89 MPH, and my best run was 13.5, which i also missed 4th gear. My trap speed on my best run was only 88 MPH... Is there any way to guesstimate what my my run might have been on my 13.5 had i not missed 4th gear? I mean once i missed it i just coasted across the line basically. I got on the scale, and with the spare removed and the the extra **** gone and a 1/4 tank of gas and me in the car it weighed 3450 (i weigh about 165). I just think its nuts running a 13.5 at 88 MPH... Thoughts? And yes, I have my slips

have no idea, but coasting from missing fourth and still hitting 13.5 seems, well weird. you're only option, not miss 4th and see what you run....

Just hit the gas and go straight

I have to think that the one with the lowest ET and lowest trap speed has to be error on the part of the timing gear.

What was your mph at the 1/8?
|
your trap only being 88mph just sounds so weird lol glad to see you finally went out to the drag strip.
my first time at one with the Z wasnt too special either. best run then was a 13.3 then ran some more got practice in and dropped to a 13.1 still only with exhaust and a full tank of gas added intakes and a tune and dropped to a 12.899 @ 110.7 with me being 175lbs and a almost full tank of gas. keep practicing it'll get better each time well it should lol |

Well guys im off the the track this sunday. could be the last N/A run for the Z.
its going to be 52 degrees F. The track should be better that opening day. have been driving the car all week and it runs like crap. I may run the cobb set up for one pass if i can not make the uprev work. Have to find a way to get rid of the bog off the line at 2200 rpm ! Z |
