Why do some guys trap 101 stock and some do 107+? A 6mph difference in trap? It's not like it's 1 case either. I've seen numerous 100-102 traps as well as numerous 107-108 traps bone stock. Why the huge margin? Driver error is not going to make up 6mph...

I've always wondered this about these cars. It seems to be pretty specific to these cars at that. On many forums there's a few that run slow, and some run fast...but usually there is an accepted time to run. 6mph difference as listed is a HUGE difference, especially inside the car..that's something like a 30-50hp difference no? So, why is the Z different? A few things come to mind. One definitely has to do with driving. WOT shifting makes a pretty big difference when racing. I don't do it much, but I do wonder if my times would improve much doing it. I also wonder how much oil temps and whatnot have to do with it as well. Seems this car is very picky about little things like that no?

During the summer time here in WPB (DA's of 2000+ ft), I've trapped as low as 101 or 102 mph with 35 psi in the rear tires. That's throughout the entire night, not just one run or two. During the winter when the DA's are negative, I've trapped as high as 105.7 mph with the rear tires deflated to 20 psi. I'd guessimate I'm losing about 1 mph from the rear tires at that pressure. Another factor is shifting. If you're shifting isn't too quick (and mine isn't perfect either), you will lose a little mph on the run. Practice makes perfect! ____________________________ EDIT- NOT to start another 7AT vs 6MT war but after looking at dragtimes.com it seems like the only stock ones that trap high like 106ish are the 7AT guys. Have you seen how quick the shifts are on the 7AT? The ones that trap lower are probably mostly 6MT (slower shifts). So add up all those factors: transmission, weather, driver, track. IMO, thats enough to account for the 6mph difference. Ok, I'm done nerding it up for now.

I don't usually powershift either (jnaut gives me sh*t about that all the time). But once in a while when I feel like I've cut an extremely good launch and shifted 2nd and 3rd gear well, I'll powershift 4th in hopes of making the run that much better.

I dont race at capitol anymore ever since I discover how much better Cecil county dragway is. On a regular friday I would get 2 runs at capital but at cecil which is an hours away from me I can get 8 with the track packed. All my buddies still race at capital so I go and watch. I'll most likely be there sunday. I'll probably be racing at Cecil on saturday.

If I power shift second my car will spin and bounce off rev limiter with these 305 hankooks and even my old nt05s , esp since the gears and in the colder temps , lol...
id love to get to the the track with some real race rubber on a light set of wheels... 12.9 before gears on a 80 degree day with only a 1.95 60 foot and being scared shlt of losing control because i was on bias ply slicks that were old and cruddy swaying back and forth all the way down the track... I swear it effected my driving atleas to the tune of atleast .2 off my time. I was more worried about losing control than concentrating on redlining and shifting.. never went back with stock rubber, but my new gts' are heavier than the 19s so im sure that not gonna help this season.. but i wonder how good the re11s are the jnaut even without them being new anymore can powershift second.. maybe i gotta slow it down a litttle but the cars goes buck wild if i powershift second... haha also my car def pulls and makes power all the way to redline at 7700 and def needs to be raised... tranceformer your time on almost stock is super impressive so your driving must be top notch... Id love to get down there with you guys too, thats if i Keep this car... :0( ....
