I run at one of the worst prepped tracks located at Orlando, fl., I ran 12.9xx with 1.9xx 60' foot bone stock with a proper burnout on my michelins a/s 3 all season in 48 degrees. There is no way I can achieve that time with my cold hockey puck rubber in that cold weather on a crappy track. I would just free spin. My other runs without the burnout were at least .3 seconds slower. official 1/4 mile track times Last edited by ssmoked; 11-11-2014 at 01:49 PM. |

7AT or 6MT ??? 48 degree temps on summer street tires is definitely not a good combination ... I've never had all seasons on : but gaining .3 seconds is impressive if the only variable is the burnout.

A quick burnout with street tires (on a chilly night) definitely helps. I was a non-believer until a friend told me to just do it and I ended up pulling 1.8x 60ft times on stock tires & suspension. It also helps to have a sticky track.

The A/S 3 made by Michelin has the characteristic of summer tires with great treadwear and awesome wet performance. Google the tire, Michelin compared it against other major summer tire brands and it came on top. |

I'm needing fronts (soon) this time around. I have the Michelin PSII's - will definitely check out the A/S 3's. Sounds like you don't need a full burn out to heat 'em up.
