Anyone have an idea on how to put away the massive tires the Z uses. I have a small house with a basement that only has about 7.5' of headroom.

Tires storage tips, also do you buy rims or rotate rims for different tires?
Anyone have an idea on how to put away the massive tires the Z uses. I have a small house with a basement that only has about 7.5' of headroom. I am already running out of square footage and I think I have to find a way to hang them over my head sideways. Anyone have an idea? I bought one of those tirerack that sits on the wall, but they overhang so much that I don't have space to move.
Also do you guys pay someone $20 each time to swap tires over or do you just folk over extra money on rims and sell them later? I am tempted to buy some extra rims to save on mounting cost, but it's another $1K to sit in the garage collecting dust. |

Get extra rims if you are going to be tracking more than a couple times a year. I just got these new Dunlops mounted today on a second set of Sport Rays that I bought for tracking.

I already have 3 sets of extra rims, I am just trying to see if I should buy more or start dismounting some tires like my snows. I know it will be cheaper in the long run, but it sucks to pay $1000 for each set of rims.
How do you guys store the tires, I need a way to stick them on the wall or ceiling! |

For hanging from the ceiling, try spare tire retainers (rod with hook on one end and threaded on the other). Should be able to pick them up cheap at a junkyard or at reasonable cost from an auto parts store. Mount an eye or strap to the beam for the retainer to hook into. Same arrangement might work on the walls.

I had seen somewhere else on the forum, can't recall who, that made basic shelves out of angle iron and had them mounted on the walls. Not the ceiling, as you seem to want, but seems a cheap and effective way if you can spare (pun intended) the space from the sides.

Maybe consider having a small shed? I have recently bought a set of rims for my snow setup. If you can spare the cash on some extra rim set I think it's worth it. My brother has 4 sets of rims... 1 for track, 1 for daily, 1 for show, & 1 for the snow (rearly used). It's not hard to change the rims from or cars so I would never pay unless I feel lazy but even then my fear of someone scratching my rim would set in and I do them myself anyway lol.
Granted they will sit there but you won't see them till you want them. Just put them in one of these Tire Rack Tire Garage and leave them in the corner.

Millions of ppl use their tires in sub-zero temperatures with the full weight of the vehicle on them. Sitting idle and unburdened in a shed will not be a problem. Keep them out of sunlight as UV can cause the rubber to deteriorate.
