Default ARP with Stock Rays, Extended Lug Nuts?

So for track purposes, I'm planning on replacing my OEM studs with ARP Studs, however they're ~25mm+ longer than OEM studs. I intend to use the hubcentric 20mm Spacers (non-bolt ons) to take up the additional length of the extended stud while getting the benefit of pushing the wheels out for looks, however, the new setup will have 5mm+ additional stud length over the OEM setup.

Will my Stock OEM (Enclosed) Lug Nuts w/Lock have enough room to work?

If I don't go with the option of replacing the lock nut w/ plain OEM lug nut and then hacking them to open, is there any aftermarket options you guys found which will have the "Shank" seating?

I've called Z1 motorsport and they said Gorilla makes some extended Lug Nuts which have Shank seating. Anyone tried this? I don't think this works because it doesn't have the flat washer.
Link

Thanks for all the help!

The Gorilla locks SHOULD NOT BE USED!!! THE DIAMETER OF WHERE THEY APPLY PRESSURE IS NOT AS WIDE AS IT IS ON THE OEM LUGS!

Cheers

OP, if you want, PM me, I can send you a set of OEM lugs for what I think is cheap. But don't risk your life for $40

I currently have a set of OEM lugs except I'm not sure if I can get away from hacking on them.

The whole reason I went with ARP extended studs is because I need to accommodate for my track set of wheels. But those I can easily find an open tuner lug nuts.

But when I go back to my DD set (Stock Rays) I want to find a set where I don't need to change out my ARP studs. There's 1 solution which is for me to hack on the current OEM set of lug nuts but I'll loose the feature of the locking feature, which I kind of need because I'm afraid someone might steal my Stock Rays.

Thanks for sharing! I've done ton of research to prior to posting this thread which concluded there aren't any tuner lug nuts which will work with our Stock Rays. It's nice to know there are something out there, but I'm a little skeptical with ebay stuff as I might track with them.

So nobody has used ARP extended studs with spacers on their Stock wheels eh?

I have machined the top's off my OEM shank-style lug-nuts .... and not bothered about lock-nut capability ....

If you want to use lock-nuts on the OEM wheels, then you should be able to use these:

Locking Nuts & Bolts

and check out "Open-End Mag Star Wheel Lock Set"

Your issue may well be with the washer size, but your local engineering bolt and nut/fasterner supplier can provide washers of the correct size (you will require "hardened" washers)

Thanks! I really appreciate it. Have you ever tracked your car with your hacked open stock lug nuts? I wonder if this weakens anything. I'm thinking of buying 4 more OEM lug nut for track and use the open end mag star locking nut for DD.

Yes, I have and there are no issues. If you remove the top of the OEM lug-nut, best to do it in a lathe, AND use a tap to run thru the threads to make sure that when used on your ARP 3" studs, the the thread does not get tight on the top of the OEM lugnut ... I'm sure you can find a tap at a reasonable price - again, your local nut/bolt shop will have them - or one of the hardware chains ... I;ve got no idea in the US marketplace.

BTW - You only need to remove the top 2 or 3mm of material from the OEM lugnut

Do you happen to know off the top the proper Washer size I need to replace it with? Do they sell them off the shelf? I'm on the Mcmaster carr website right now.

You happen to know the difference between a "CLAMP SHELL" vs "BULK PACKING"? I'm confused which P/N I should order.

DEpoint, I sent you a PM again for lugs. Thanks!

Bulk is in a bag, clamp shell is that annoying packaging you get at costco
