Harness suggestions, anyone?
Harness suggestions anyone?
I've got a set of seats coming my way and need to get a set of harnesses to go with them. I've been eyeing the Scroth Profi II 6 pt (saferace.com Profi II) but am open to other suggestions. Something cheaper than these would be great but for something safety related I'm looking for quality first, price second. Thanks for the help in advance. |

I like the Scroth Hybrid model as they are more comfortable on my junk. They do take longer to put on though so they aren't good for fast enduro driver changes.

I was looking at this one, to try and spend a little less: Schroth*Clubman 6PT Camlock Harness*-*SafeRacer
|
The clubman is a good buy for the money.

A non-hans harness with 3" shoulder belts can be used equally with a Hans device or without. A Hans specific harness with 2" shoulders should NOT be used without a Hans device. Get the 3"
Schroth is the consensus. |
How are you going to mount/install them? Do you have a rollcage or harness bar?

I have Racetech belts, because they are orange and the only ones that offered orange. Way too expensive and I don't like the way the lap adjusts at the anchor end and not the buckle end, so I don't recommend those.
Forged Performance let me use a loaner set of belts while I was waiting for the racetech ones to come in from England, they were the basic G-Force belts and I liked them a lot. Comfortable and easy to adjust. |
GForce is my other possibility. I am shooting for the Schroth atm because it has the "loop over" shoulder straps.
I may need to go with "anchored" style and if I do, I'll go GForce. |
I have a Profi-II HANS harness and I think my next will be a Safecraft. They're SFI certified not FIA so the certification period is shorter but you get a free rewebbing to make up for it. They seem to adjust more smoothly and they hold settings as well as the schroth. Oh... and they're cheaper. :)

Edit: bah! Beaten by Mike! |
I prefer latch and link systems to Cam locks simply because they are faster to get in and out of when you zip tie. Cam locks always leave me confused at first as to what goes where. Thats just my $.02 its all personal preference.
