Need opinions on tires & square setup. NT05 & RE-11
I need some help deciding on my next purchase.
Option 1: Re-11's on stock sport Rays 255/35/19 x9 285/35/19 x10 Option 2: Nitto NT05's on 4 rear stock sport Rays 275/35/19 x10 SQUARE Will be used for around 30-40 autox runs and 5k DD miles a year. Im lowered on swifts and i just got Koni yellows in today. Also have whiteline sways. I know the RE-11's are a much better tire and i'd save $300+ by getting them, but the square setup is tempting. Maybe later i could put RE-11's on the square wheels but i dont want that to factor into my decision bc im want to make the best ax runs with what i have atm. Square wheels + RE-11's is too much $$ right now. Although they may not be ideal, these are my 2 choices so im looking for specific opinions. Which one would you choose and why? Will one setup wear out tires faster? Would these wheels put me in a different ax class? Actually im not sure what class i'll be in with the koni yellows. Prior to that i was SSM, so any info there would be appreciated also Thank you much

Buy 4 re11 at 285 35 19 and you are all set. YOU should run a street tire bsp pax class. I can get 10k miles and 180+ rums from them

Per scca rules it would be asp not bsp. Also unless your region does it's own thing the street tire pax options are only for the stock class eligible cars.

Wow. I thought the bulge would compromise the sidewall and have negative effects on handling. Why do some people still choose a staggered setup? Any down side to using 285 square as a DD?

I read that u used to have 265/285 RE-11's. Which was what i thought to be an ideal setup until this post(aside from a i found deal on 255's). Will you compare them for me? Is tramlining an issue?

Found some pics of some 285/35-19x9 Re-11's on a mustang. I'll keep looking for some on a 370. I'd like to see it compared to the rear wheels on 285's
+1 for me

I have run 18s and 19s on my car for track and autox. Quote:
From far Not sure if this helps, but this is an old video with the 265/285. As you can see, the car just had the death plow and I didn't have to make too many adjustments with the wheel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csMS72kgoYI This is with the 285 all around. While it still plows quite a bit, but no where as bad. These are all on slower autox, at the fast courses the backend can dance around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0AkCE58cIc Last edited by cossie1600; 11-25-2012 at 02:40 PM. |
