The Z is allowed a lot of upgrades in the GS class.... Being the smallest NA engine.
We are also the lightest car...which helps big time when the tracks get hot. Doran Racing really began this project after our first race at Barber after we got crushed by a Mustang in turn 1 of the race. Engine wise : we have removed all the oem wiring and electronics and run the Grand am spec Bosch Motorsport ecu. We run our own intake and are allowed a full exhaust system. Grand am has approved camshafts as well and a dry sump system. Suspension wise we are still working on it to make it even better.....always ;) |

Also the motors in 370s that run GS are more than HR headed VQ motors typically. They have very expensive engine management systems, racing brake systems, racing cooling systems, suspension upgrades, rear dif and LSD upgrades, oiling upgrades, etc. yep pretty much completely rebuilt car. Don't forget Doran started with a $150k racing car version of 370z and still had to make major mods to be competitive. |
Actually they all have 275 front and rear tires as we are only allowed 245 front and 275 rear.
They make about 120+ lbs of tq to the wheels more than us. Everyone is allowed differential upgrades and suspension upgrades... Sways / bushings etc Brakes : we are allowed going up 5% on front rotor diameter from the oem 370z rotor and to upgrade to any alum 2 piece 4 piston front caliper. We "upgrade" to the oem 350Z rear caliper. |

Dwnshift, any word on whether you guys will be at the Daytona race in Jan.?
|
Yes their 120lbs more of tq is a real disadvantage for them.
;) We shall see... we are working on a couple things that could make it really interesting. |

I hate to say it but seems like you guys have driving talent why not go with 997 4 liter Porsche? With fast drivers that car has better chance of winning? |
I see Shamu is back to his forum trolling ways. Thank god someone has the stones to tell the professionals how they should be racing...:screwy:
