anyone tracknig with stock trailing arms?
At about 8-9K miles, this is what happened to my trailing arm bushings.
What are my choices for aftermarket: SPL: very expensive lol Kinetix: uses polybushings Anything else out there? http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...47535939_n.jpg |
Actually we are as we are not allowed as of yet to change those arms.
Those bushings need to either be a delrin spherical or alum spherical ... Or the OEM rubber bushing. Dwnshift |
did you press in poly bushings in there? I have about 13K miles now, about 14-15 track days...
I know on my infiniti qx4 I had the same problem, the stock bushings were crap.... had to press in all new poly. |
Nope
Unfortunately we have to run that OEM arm as is. We would like to change it out ... Are not allowed to at the moment. That particular bushing needs to be free and have movement in an arch... So a straight poly bushing will bind the rear arm as is goes through its motion.... It's not just straight up and down... It twists ... Which is exactly why the rubber rips. Dwnshift |
my only option at the moment are these:
For about $100-150 http://www.amplifiedmotorsport.com/p...KINCAMREAR.jpg or $300 for SPL https://www.splparts.com/store/avact...PLRTRZ34_0.JPG |
Get the SPL ones or another set of OEM.
The SPL are fairly heavy but the spherical on the end will not bind. The reason the arms are expensive is that spherical on the end..... They are not cheap. A striaght bushing such as shown in the other arms will bind as it travels through its motion. If we get arms approved we will design our own version but until then..... Dwnshift |
Thanks for the reply! I just wonder how these will feel as I DD the car and drive to and from the track...
|
My car has all SPL in rear. No difference in feel. And I'd say they aren't that heavy either as indicated by other post. They are very close to stock weight but are far more beefy and well made.

I have the SPL pieces as well, no issues.
|
This all had me worried, so I checked mine when swapping tires for this weekends event today.
19000 miles, at least 14000 on track, and the OEM are holding up just fine. |
Wow wtf is wrong with my car then
|
Nothing probably, just conditions vary a lot. More time parked outside? Bushing got more water exposure over time? More heat? Different tire/suspension/alignment config putting different stresses on it?
|
If you are using them... They will rip eventually.
;) |
You can always say that you are driving faster than everyone else, resulting in faster wear....

SPL are not expensive and have a smooth spherical bearing, I just wish the "fork" was a little beefier. Not sure why they are double adjustable either, when the rod end could just use a single lock nut and fine adjustments made with the stock bolts. |

Regarding weight, the tubing is chromoly as is the double adjuster. The clamp is 6061 aluminum and the jam nut and clamp screw are both titanium. It's pretty tough to make an adjustable arm lighter than this that's as strong as we want it to be. |
now I need to find a hook up on the SPL trailing arm, no one I know carries it...

I would love to get those front arms when they come out. I'm pretty close if you need a test 370z :)
