Hey I might be the single most experienced installer of this thing now outside of Phunk himself, I've done two of them (Well, I had a lot of help both times, from a local friend on mine and then DR_ did half his own work on his as well).
Loving mine so far. With the rear interior all stripped out you can hear it all the time, and then it gets really noisy once you get well under half a tank and there's not a bunch of fuel immersing it to drown it out. I assume that's normal, but I thought I'd mention it in case Phunk says "No you shouldn't hear anything, it's killing itself!". I don't mind it on my stripped down car, and I bet the interior stuff muffles most of it on normally-equipped cars. I don't think I came back to mention it in this thread, but I did put the thing through its paces (at my level of driving, anyways!) at Texas World Speedway a few weekends ago, and it held up beautifully. Fuel gauge works correctly, nothing leaking, and I only filled up once per day in the morning. Ran down to just under 1/4 tank by the end of the last session each day, no hiccups. Youtube link to my last session on that Sunday. I was under 1/4 tank when I came in from this run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2-PuW8yy58 Last edited by wstar; 03-22-2013 at 09:08 PM. |

The only time I hear mine, is on start up. After I push the start buttom, before the engine starts. I hear it prime. After the engine starts, all I hear is the exhaust. LTH's, 12" resonators, CBE. LOL

I've only been there with Driver's Edge so far, in their Blue Solo, but I think I'm getting close to bumping up a group with them. I've thought about hitting up the TWS PDS events as well, but between work travel and working on the car it's often hard enough just to schedule my TDE events at MSR-H (and now TWS as well). We'll see though, maybe this summer I'll be able to squeeze in some PDS as well.

I hear the same constant whirring noise. Phunk said that it was a bigger pump and closer to the driver's ear, so he's not surprised. As long as its not "screaming" he said it should be ok. Glad you're enjoying it..I can't wait to test mine!!

It worked perfectly this weekend. I took it down to 2 dots twice and it never hiccupped even in the "toilet bowl", which is a very long right turn that would make it starve after 7 laps from full before.

I expect the pump to be a little louder than stock, but they shouldn't be too intrusively loud. A screaming pump is often getting ready to die. If the pumps were getting crazy loud for you guys, then I would have to look into it more. It could also be noise from fuel cycling in and out of the surge canister like crazy. Being on the drivers side, at less than a near full tank, the canister isn't submerged anymore, which will increase some of the volume. The pump inside it is completely suspended by soft materials to help make it quieter. It is held from the bottom with a bushing, and supported at the top with a viton oring. |

The unit has so far been successful in its first forced induction install with twin walbros in the road race pump assembly. I will keep you guys updated on that one.
The one that was I mentioning before that I believed to have sold via PM was never sold, so there is one still around. |
