ya i have always specialized in fuel system related components and unfortunately, most of them, you cannot see once they are installed. Brandon and I did some killer billet intake manifolds for the 350z/G35 just so that we could have something that sits in plain site. it doesnt get any better than a massive polished billet intake manifold with relocated throttle etc, to really stand out and grab some attention. we had to compensate for 90% of what we build getting stuck inside gas tanks or tucked away hidden deep in the engine bay. I have attached a photo of said intake manifold (along with the billet Y adapter we machined.. unseen there is the billet upper endtank on the intercooler we also did when building that Y pipe). We actually have CAD development started on a VHR intake manifold... it is unknown if we will move forward with it until this winter. I will need to use my car for the R&D on it, and I havent decided yet if I will be keeping the car.

the funny thing with this particular product... i wish i could be there to watch everyone try and install it so carefully without scratching it up. the edges on the tank are so sharp and the parts are maximum size to get the most displacement... its going to be really hard to install this without scratching it up. its going to be like playing the old game "operation". i bet that down the road, when some guys start parting out their cars to get new ones, and they remove this kit and post it for sale... its going to look so scratched up that prospective buyers are going to be asking "what the hell happened to that thing??"

When is the estimated time of availablity for general public purchase?

I've gotten everything apart and just about ready to install your twin fuel pump setup with a fuel return system.

Within the next week would be a good time for me to do a install

Well, it is technically available now. I have to start contacting everyone on the list and arranging things. I have to get some more inventory on some of the small parts before I could ship every last one of them, but that stuff is just a couple days out. Right now... once I start running through the list of people who signed up... if nobody drops out at payment time then I am not sure if there will be any left in this batch. As for a next batch, we would be looking at a little bit... 4 weeks minimum, 8 weeks max i believe. Everyone who got on the list before I posted that the first batch was spoken for, already has one here being held for them.

I am sort of thinking it might be a really good idea to let these 2 get installed before I ship more out. Since I have only done mockup installs, I would sort of like to get some confirmation that everything required was included in the kit and it wouldn't hurt to have them run it a couple days. Since there are changes in this final model from the tested and proven prototype, I would sleep better with test results on this exact model... but at the same time, I cant even fathom what would go wrong with it. I have gone over it so many times now that I believe it is extremely unlikely to encounter any issues with its functionality as a race product, or every day driveability. Its just that I have never shipped a product that had problems or needed an update, and id like to keep my record clear!

I would personally like to give it all of next week to see where these 2 gentlemen end up with it... but with enough pressure I could probably be persuaded to send out some more.

As for your project.. you already have our twin pump? I only know of one being installed right now so that means I know who you are. We will have to catch up... this new product here, while it could be used with your twin pump, there wouldnt be much reason to do them together. We will have to catch up soon.

Chad
Chad, I apologize for not having used the email list as I intended to. When we decided that we are going to start translating the product to a few different platforms once the 370z was finished, we decided that we wanted to limit our showing off of how we are doing it.

So I have actually not emailed anyone on the list. I still have the list of course, and these reservations still stand and will go in order.

I will try to post up some pricing details before I leave the office today... but in case i dont get to the details today... said and done in the current configuration we are offering it, with a single walbro 255 and associated plumbing for surge can style install, we are talking about $1060.

Its a little more than I was hoping but we spent a lot more time in design and machining so that this product could be used in a couple different modes and with several fuel pump configurations so that this can be used for any level of 370z, between street and full-on track, with any power level between stock and potentially 1200+ HP (pending high flow testing). Its an all in one solution for fuel supply in this car, and I hope people find the value in it.

I dont want to say much about it right now, but there area discussions over a simplified ecomony model that could save $150-175. I would prefer not to have to do that, but we will see how the response is to the current model.

One thing that I want people to keep in mind also is that the pricing is including a wiring kit and hoses/plumbing for install, and the fuel pump. So when compared to universal surge cans, you must add up those costs that are not included with universal surge cans unless you are looking at some type of vehicle specific kit perhaps.

Yes it is probably me, the slow as molasses turtle, that has been working on the car on and off all year. Next week however the fuel pump, fuel return and regulator will be going in, after the rear suspension gets finished being reassembled. The new fuel lines and external filter have been installed from the pump location to the rear of the motor awaiting the rest of the fuel return system to be done.

I'll have pictures in my album when I get it plumbed and flushed. Interesting that you say that I won't need the extra pump in the drivers side. I guess time will tell on the track.

Thanks for the heads up

Nice job Phunk. I wasn't convinced this was going to come together, but it looks like it has and a fine product it appears to be as well. Do you have any instructions for the install so we can get a sense of what it takes, how long, how involved, etc?

that was a faster about-face than grabbing the e-brake on a wet day. The question is - How long are you going to allow Charles to post a full DIY with pictures?

It's not an 'about face'. I've never hampered his product coming to market (I had volunteered to test the darn thing almost two years ago!). I purely shared my distaste for frequent delays of a product that never seemed to be forthcoming. I fully support any vendor who produces a product that benefits our community and is actually available to us. Until very recently, Phunk was a 2.5 year old a carrot-dangler. Now things are coming to fruition and he's proven to be good to his word. So, I'm happy to consider him a reputable vendors and support his product.

I got a decent start on the instructions done today and sent it to the 2 guys who already received the product. I still have a lot more work to do on it, but it may or may not be enough for them to wing it from here. Either way, I will be working on it more tomorrow.
