this fuel pump assembly has been designed to be extremely adaptable for all sorts of different configurations of surge-can use or standalone fuel pump assembly use.

it is built of so many seperate components mostly so that it can be reconfigured as needed.

at this point in time for initial release, we are currently supporting it for use only as a surge-can to work in supplement to the stock fuel pump assembly. in that scenario the stock fuel pump will be busy feeding this product. in the case where someone may wish to reconfigure it or purchase it solely for use as a standalone/independant fuel pump assembly in which it would completely replace the stock fuel pump sending unit, we will have a specific model pump that it will require at least as the primary fuel pump (since it supports up to 2 pumps). this "special" model fuel pump (sounds expensive but its like any other walbro 255) i mention has a secondary feature that will aid in filling of this surge can.

To use this product as a standalone fuel pump assembly, if PnP is desired, then a filter and regulator will need to be integrated internally. That is something we will be working on in the future. But if someone wanted to use an external adjustable regulator and external filter, then we could immediately prepare one for standalone use by simply machining a couple holes in the top for fittings. There will still be more modifications to perform to get back the over-tank siphoning ability though. So ultimately, I would highly recommend that anyone who wants to use it in standalone configuration to wait for us to release the parts for it.

This product should go to SEMA and win product of the year. This is one of the best thought out needed mods for our community. No one here (no one) has made anything that is truly this useful as this. Can't wait to get mine.

I am awaiting that email so I can get one Charles. Thanks for the e-mail update today. I know Chris, Mike and I are ready to JUMP on this as soon as you release it. I am sure will all be glad to to write up some reviews once we get it installed and tested.

BTW: I may have a buddy be contacting you about one for his 600+ Whp G37. He get fuel Starvation bad to at the track.

totaly agree !

someone really needed to come out with something to fight against our badly configured gas tank !!
It wasnt that bad with my 350z but with the 370z, it is just ridiculous !!!

I had another unit in mind as a surge tank (not that expensive ) but since phunk is gonna release one soon ?!?!! Im giving him a chance with the pricing as I know it will be working as mentionned before.

It looks good!

How complicated is the install going to be given the limited access to the tank? I'm a pretty avid DIY'er but this one looks a little intimidating even for me. I do have access to a good race shop though.

Ive talked to Phunk about this a couple of times. It seems the install itself is not going to be bad at all. But I'm not easly intimindated by much. He plans to make great pics of a tank outside of the car to give better clear details. I feel the hardest part for most is the tight area to work in. But being my car is gutted and the seats can come out in less than a minute shouldnt be a issue.

Then you have to wire it up but that shouldn't be to bad either. Phunk is really taking a lot of the guess work out of it.

installation should be pretty simple for anyone. To take the seats out would make it a breeze, but I will probably leave mine in while doing it.... im used to digging around the gas tanks of Zs.

I will have a step by step manual or perhaps a video if it makes more sense. Just basic tools are required. I think anyone who could install a cold air intake, exhaust, and change their brakes, would consider this to be a pretty easy journey. it's just a matter of dabbling with a part of the car that most people never dig into.

Excellent, sounds good. I've done basic work like swapping a fuel tank and pumps before and didn't blow up so I guess I should be good.

Funny the race shop who I have work on my Z has been smoking a cigarette while extracting fuel from SMs twice when I was there.

Yeah in reality you'd be surprised how hard it is to light gas on fire with a cigarette. The vapor density has to be just perfect, etc. Still, I don't think I'd risk it personally :P
