Just wanted to mention that at this point they are all spoken for. Anyone to contact me about it from this point forward will be placed in order on a waiting list. From there it will depend on if anyone bails out on this batch, or if they will have to wait until the next batch.

SPOHN 06-28-2012 04:04 PM

You get my name on there. I tried calling.

I'm not backing out at any price, although I know you will be fair with it.

cdoxp800 06-29-2012 07:43 AM

Waiting for that e-Mail. Last weekend I was Two Dots below Full and getting fuel cut.

threeseventy 07-02-2012 06:09 PM

Half a tank, deserted straight half-mile of industrial road, WOT, halfway thru third gear it was just like I popped a chute.. please stop the madness!

So you got this in a straight away? I have a hard time with that.

threeseventy 07-02-2012 07:36 PM

To be fair when mine reads half a tank I've put 8-9 gallons in it, but yes, WOT straight line, 60-20-60 on a hard righthander on the street, freeway cloverleaf, or sweeping righthander on track. The 09's have the worst of it.

happy to eat my words... glad this thing is shipping. congrats!

phunk 07-03-2012 03:37 PM

should have what i was calling the final part in the last machine process by the end of the day or early tomorrow. we got a little behind since brandon was renewing his vows or something like that friday so i was alone at the shop thursday and friday. hoping to get the part completed tomorrow then. we did end up changing our level sensor mount... we were going to be using the ones that we put on our twin fuel pump assembly, but we are doing it a little different, which is one more part to machine now but its a simple part that requires no fixturing or anything... so as soon as this other part is done we can immediately machine that.

a backorder list has been started for the next batch now.

SPOHN 07-03-2012 04:01 PM

Let me know when your ready for payment? I'm ready to send now

Mt Tam I am 07-03-2012 05:18 PM

Quick story, at Laguna Seca I had a light fuel starvation issue. Where you have three right handers in a row, I came off the racing line and made a hard left in a straight. Doing this the last three laps bandaged the problem till I refilled.

Of course I was questioned about what I was doing. Are you drunk? One more reason to buy this product.

I used to get same thing out of turn 4 about half way down the straight. Also got it out of turn 10. The fix from Z Car garage should fix that on my car. It's like having a left hand turn in the tank.

cdoxp800 07-04-2012 09:51 AM

Two Dots Down At NOLA and I hit fuel starvation. I can barely Finnish one heat before I hit fuel starvation.

Yes it is. But there might be people that back out when payment time comes. But as stated he already has another list going for the next batch. So I'm sure if some don't pay out of the first batch he'll start from the first names on the second list.

phunk 07-06-2012 10:22 AM

^^ Correct. BTW SPOHN I will give you a call back in a little bit... we havent started to accept payments just yet... we are pretty strict about not accepting payments until we can ship within 48 hours :)

SPOHN 07-06-2012 10:23 AM

Ok man. Looking forward to it.

So, I havent been using the mailing list for updates like I said I would. I apologize for that. We actually decided to stay a little private about the design for now. We are building this for other applications and dont want anyone else to beat us to our own punchline.

But just for those of you fearing that I am going to drag you along for another year...

(I hope it looks expensive, because its getting there) :) :wtf2:

SPOHN 07-09-2012 04:33 PM

That screams quality and knowing what it does. Priceless

cdoxp800 07-09-2012 04:51 PM

Will you be able to use the Stock fuel pump on both pump brackets?

phunk 07-09-2012 07:05 PM

this fuel pump assembly has been designed to be extremely adaptable for all sorts of different configurations of surge-can use or standalone fuel pump assembly use.

it is built of so many seperate components mostly so that it can be reconfigured as needed.

at this point in time for initial release, we are currently supporting it for use only as a surge-can to work in supplement to the stock fuel pump assembly. in that scenario the stock fuel pump will be busy feeding this product. in the case where someone may wish to reconfigure it or purchase it solely for use as a standalone/independant fuel pump assembly in which it would completely replace the stock fuel pump sending unit, we will have a specific model pump that it will require at least as the primary fuel pump (since it supports up to 2 pumps). this "special" model fuel pump (sounds expensive but its like any other walbro 255) i mention has a secondary feature that will aid in filling of this surge can.

To use this product as a standalone fuel pump assembly, if PnP is desired, then a filter and regulator will need to be integrated internally. That is something we will be working on in the future. But if someone wanted to use an external adjustable regulator and external filter, then we could immediately prepare one for standalone use by simply machining a couple holes in the top for fittings. There will still be more modifications to perform to get back the over-tank siphoning ability though. So ultimately, I would highly recommend that anyone who wants to use it in standalone configuration to wait for us to release the parts for it.

This product should go to SEMA and win product of the year. This is one of the best thought out needed mods for our community. No one here (no one) has made anything that is truly this useful as this. Can't wait to get mine.

Buying this from you is not going to give you the props you deserve IMO.

phunk 07-09-2012 07:32 PM

^^^ thanks!! we appreciate positive and kind feedback :)

.

totaly agree !

someone really needed to come out with something to fight against our badly configured gas tank !!
It wasnt that bad with my 350z but with the 370z, it is just ridiculous !!!:shakes head:

I had another unit in mind as a surge tank (not that expensive ) but since phunk is gonna release one soon ?!?!! Im giving him a chance with the pricing as I know it will be working as mentionned before.

ChrisSlicks 07-10-2012 09:58 AM

It looks good!

How complicated is the install going to be given the limited access to the tank? I'm a pretty avid DIY'er but this one looks a little intimidating even for me. I do have access to a good race shop though.

wstar 07-10-2012 11:11 AM

Intimidating and frustrating first-time DIY jobs are the best kind, you learn so much :)

SPOHN 07-10-2012 11:16 AM

Ive talked to Phunk about this a couple of times. It seems the install itself is not going to be bad at all. But I'm not easly intimindated by much. He plans to make great pics of a tank outside of the car to give better clear details. I feel the hardest part for most is the tight area to work in. But being my car is gutted and the seats can come out in less than a minute shouldnt be a issue.

Then you have to wire it up but that shouldn't be to bad either. Phunk is really taking a lot of the guess work out of it.

phunk 07-10-2012 12:26 PM

^^ ^^

installation should be pretty simple for anyone. To take the seats out would make it a breeze, but I will probably leave mine in while doing it.... im used to digging around the gas tanks of Zs.

I will have a step by step manual or perhaps a video if it makes more sense. Just basic tools are required. I think anyone who could install a cold air intake, exhaust, and change their brakes, would consider this to be a pretty easy journey. it's just a matter of dabbling with a part of the car that most people never dig into.

wstar 07-10-2012 12:42 PM

Don't forget to put a big "No Smoking" sign at the top of the instruction sheet :)

Excellent, sounds good. I've done basic work like swapping a fuel tank and pumps before and didn't blow up so I guess I should be good.

Funny the race shop who I have work on my Z has been smoking a cigarette while extracting fuel from SMs twice when I was there. :)

wstar 07-10-2012 02:35 PM

Yeah in reality you'd be surprised how hard it is to light gas on fire with a cigarette. The vapor density has to be just perfect, etc. Still, I don't think I'd risk it personally :P

ValidusVentus 07-13-2012 01:42 PM

More than 80% sure I will be purchasing this a couple months from now.

Rusty 07-13-2012 04:31 PM

Think this will be my winter project.
