This is simply a fuel pump upgrade. If you think that your dealer would try and reject your vehicle because you upgraded your fuel pump, I would highly suggest you dont brag to them about it, and all will be well. The dealer will never know it is installed. But if you have reason to believe they are going to poke around inside the fuel tank, you could simply remove the kit and return to stock while the car is with Nissan. You should be able to remove the kit easily, with the exception of probably having to cut the 3 short blue hoses in the bag that you can see in wstar's picture.... those would probably be nearly impossible to pull off without cutting. In that event, I would send over replacements no problem, or you could buy it anywhere... its Aeroquip AQP -6 Hose. |

oem fuel pump power wire color?
Anybody know what color the oem fuel pump +wire color to splice into? I know its one of the 2 larger gauge wires but which one? Thought I be able to save some time instead of using a voltmeter while starting the ignition if anybody knows. Thanks!
|
I wish I could remember. Something in my head is saying pink, but I really don't know if thats the case or not. Looked back through some text messages with phunk, I triggered mine off the pink wire.

My Street Z has never so much as stuttered... And I don't want her to start. I'm looking very closely at this mod. Please pm me a price and I'll start thinking about tearing around my oh so mysterious fuel system.
Also, I'm considering going FI (supercharger) (about 500 whp). I know its been talked about extensively here, but will your base mod meet my need? |

500whp is going to be near the end of the line with the typical configuration its sold in. On which side of that line I do not know for sure at this time. It should be within its capacity, but it will depend on a dozen other factors. If it falls short, it can always be upgraded with a second pump. |

Half of the original batch made is still here in stock. Most of people on the pre-order list did not complete the transaction when the product was finally available. However, this was expected as the product price landed probably 25-35% higher than I think people were expecting. Unfortunately it is expensive to do tons of CAD work and run CNC machines for products of such low volume. 6 of them have been sold, 6 remain here.
After the last 6, I will determine if any more will be made. There will most likely be a second batch produced since all the ground work is complete. |

I do a lot of big sweeping rights while at 4 dots getting home from work. I have been known to do it in a spirited way, and I have heard of enough guys getting stuck looking for a gallon of gas to get off the highway shoulder!!!
Please Pm with PayPal info and I would love to get one of your overstock pieces! Also I don't track, but definitely will be soon. So, thanks for the input but I'm loving this mod. Thanks |
phunk: don't lose hope on selling more of them. From what I've been seeing at HPDE's around here the past year or two, I really think the era of 370's at DEs is only just beginning. Earlier on the cars were all too new. Now there's more of them on the used market, and more owners comfortable taking a little more risk, more of them are second-hand, etc. A year and a half ago it was normal for my car to be the only 370Z I saw at an event, and now it's not uncommon to see 3-4 others the same weekend, although we're still outnumbered by the 350s.
Your part is a pretty elegant solution to a pretty serious design problem that every track 370Z driver will face over time, so you're pretty much guaranteed to sell these things I think. |
phunk, I'd love to do this for price is prohibiting it at the moment. For me its either JRZ RS coilovers.... or fuel fix... so I end up keep filling up every session. On Sunday, I had fuel starve after 3 laps!!!!

BTW, I sent you an email tonight asking for quote ;) |
JRZ's overrated.:stirthepot:
|
Oh I will definitely be buying this solution, it's just on a very long list of things that need to be bought...

Still love mine. Friday got down to two dots and no starvation.

I also wish this wasnt so expensive. That and the fact that it looks like a very difficult and stressful install. :(

Doesn't mean I would recommend it to someone who never tracks... for the money you can do a lot of other things. That's all. |

Definitely mod of this generation Z. |

Could I spend 1000 bucks on body kits and fancy headlights, sure, but I'm more of a mechanically minded modder. LSDs HFCs, Flywheels and Clutch. That kind of stuff. This mod is AWESOME. Fixes a thing that would bug the Cr*p out of me if it happened at the wrong time. Thanks for the input, but please don't assume I'm an unsafe driver, or don't know what I buying, if I decide to pop one in. I just like making my ride a bada$$, safe, reliable, mechanical masterpiece. Peace. |

Wow. Uh, where to begin. I wasn't making a statement about anyone's driving style, I was just saying the only time it's happened to me on the street was when I was hooning... As for the other comments, preaching to the choir, but you'd know that if you'd looked at my build thread linked in my sig. Appearance mods are definitely not what I was even referring to in my original comment. ;) |
Ok, It Just sounded a bit like you were flaming me for liking this one. I did check out your build. It looks pretty cool.

mine's on the way... 5 left

One customer who was installing this product a few days ago was text messaging me. I accidentally deleted the text conversation and had not saved the number. Can whoever that was please text me again or call me. There is a step missing from the instructions that another customer just made me aware of and I wanted to make sure to get that information to you.
|
Ah I suppose I should mention what was missing from the instructions since those who have already installed it must be wondering now if something isnt setup right with them.
There are 2 updates I will be putting into the PDF. Major Update: Before putting the final lid on the assembly, I never actually said to put the surge can fuel pump output hose on the fitting and clamp it. If your car is running, you intuitively connected this. If your car isn't running, you follow instructions better than the other guys :) Minor Update: Apply teflon thread sealant to the 3 studs before final install of the 3 nuts with sealing washers. Those 3 studs used to be bolts, and therefore needed no sealant. But it was found easier to install by switching to studs and nuts, so the threads themselves need to be sealed since those threads go all the way into the can. Without sealant, there could be very minor fuel seepage visible... I do not foresee a DRIP or anything, but more like some wetness on top of the unit without thread sealant. |
Just placed my order. 4 left.
:driving: Phunk thanks for all the hard work in developing this for us. I look forward to this season not having to top off and completing a session with less the 3/4 tank. :worship: |
chassis ground points
Does anyone have a pic of exactly where the ground wire contacts the chassis? I dont get power to the pump and I want to rule out an incorrect chassis ground point. I drilled a hole in the metal panel where the seatbelt screws in...
|
I finally ordered mine!!
