Planning on attending track this summer
I'm planning on going to the track
Suspension I currently have T1R coilover set to stiffest setting and lowered. I also have hotchikis sway bars. -My concern is my amuse kit: most of people here know the amuse sides is closer to the ground than other body parts. My front clearance is ...about a pack of cigarette and side is lower. Will it touch the ground? Brake Stock akebono, J hook rotors with HPS pads. Do I need brake liner? Also, I've been using J hooked rotors (stillen) for awhile... Any concerns? Thanks in advance any input will be appreciated

You went the wrong way in preparing for the track. Who knows how your car is going to handle with your suspension mods?
And if there is any chance of rain (or any moisture on the track) please dial your shocks to full soft and set your rear sway to full soft. Otherwise, your car will be a death trap in the rain. You should be fine with your ground clearance. However, be prepared to take a ride if you hit a corner curb (we call them gators). Keep in mind that a stock 370Z should be fine for a first track session. Once you have a little experience you should go high temp brake fluid, race pads, and an oil cooler. Then use your money to sign up for track days.

Give yourself a little more ground clearance, IMO you have a good street setup, but on a track with harder braking and super high speed turns your car should be allowed to lean onto the tires, not be counting only on camber for lateral grip. 60-70% stiff coilover setting, Medium front and Soft rear sway setting so you can handle slower turns or "esses" and not break loose when applying gas. Brake lines can come later, depends on the track. Shield your clutch line, and use race grade clutch and brake fluid. Preset tire pressure to 30, measure after 4 laps so hot temp is around 35 all around. Be smooth with applying gas and brake. Don't slam on brakes or gas, ease in to 100% your car and your times will benefit. Track early and often!

Hyunsoo that Amuse kit is going to stick you to the track like crazy glue, stay off the curbs, don't tailgate or draft, you'll avoid pebbles. Bluetape your lights and leading edge of your bonnet just in case.
Always be smooth, and remember each tyre has it's own sweet spot, and it will be different on each track, and will depend on the weather, so have fun and be constantly adjusting pressure but try not to obsess, just have fun for a while. Last edited by threeseventy; 05-12-2012 at 12:53 PM. |

Here are the updates, I've ordered new brake pads for upcoming track days as well as other fluids such as clutch and brakes.
I'm also raising the car a tad bit just to protect the side skirts from hitting the ground. I will be setting the stiffness to 70-80% stiff and front sway stiffest and rear sway at its mid stiff. Any other inputs? Any other potential risks? Thanks again

1. If you go off track you may scuff up your front diffuser. 2. Things might break 3. You might crash and die - low probability 4. Your oil may over heat and car might go into limp mode 5. You might experience ice mode with your abs 6. Your ego may be bruised when 120 hp Miata passes you twice in one session 7. Your car will get real dirty 8. You might develop a real expensive habit
