Sorry for your loss, guys! Car is looking good. Kinda excited to see how the new ECU will affect the VVEL and hp in general.

I figured a squirel ran out on the track, he was trying to spare the poor things life.
Seriously though, that sucks. Good luck with the rest of your season.

From my understanding..the VVEL has no benifit to HP or racing application...its more of an efficency / emission improvement. Keep in mind also that any improvement under 5000 RPM.... isnt a benifit for what we are looking for.
The VVEL also carries a lot of heavy moving parts. Since our engine is the smallest normally apsirated engine in the GS class...we have been given some engine upgrades for both performance and reliability. For all intense purposes our engine is a 3.7 HR with the approved enhancements. The BOSCH ECU will probably give us better throttle response and allow us to map the engine more accurately/detailed. This should give us the same HP or maaaaaybe a small improvement...but larger gains in driveability, fuel mileage, fail safes etc. We dealt with a couple issue going back to throttle at Barber that if we had the BOSCH...would have been non issues. Knowing how the series works...we dont like speaking about HP and anything that could be used against the program...its a political game..and other teams that may feel threatned are always lurking. For our first time out...there are plenty of others alreadys looking over their shoulders...(or so we feel) Grand Am starts with a basis of HP to weight ratios...and goes from there based on track performance from race lap data. I can say this... the V8 M3's are making 400-410HP at the wheels and weigh 3300 lbs. The Mustangs are making 405-415 at the wheels and weigh 3335 lbs. Both make a looooot of TQ. Both are low 8 lbs per HP rating.... At 2900 lbs we are higher than that...but working to narrow the gap. Dwnshift |

I totally understand you guys wanting to keep your #'s a close secret. Don't want those Grand Am officials spoiling your party.
