Definitely. I'm sure they'll trim the 911s back a bit.

I would think they will consider Barber a "wash" becuase of the terrible sportmanship and carnage. As we were leaving the race....and going to the car the announcers came on and said they were working lap 45....and 29 of them had been yellow flag laps...and it was an emabaresment.
How Grand am looks at it is qualifying times...then they take each makes fastest race lap...10 lap average...2o lap average...and 30 lap race average. This is one part of the Z esp at Barber we thought would be in our favor for a green flag lap. While we may not have top 10 single fast lap...our car because of the weight and setup...may not fall off as much during a full stint. The showed last year when we ran the 128's....our car only fell off 1 second on the 20 lap average...and other cars fell off 1.5 - 2 seconds. We came away p2 in last years Barber ST race. The Porsche 3.8 is making good power for sure...and good power to the wheels ...and has only 50 more lbs than us. I know for sure...the old non direct injection 3.8s were about 320 to the wheels stock....and the new engines are up a lot higher than that. Im thinking they are making 360ish to the wheels at least. I bet after Homestead there will be another rules package update....that is if everyone in GS drives better. Dwnshift |

They'll never let any one make get too far out ahead so at least we can always count on a great show assuming everyone behaves themselves. The races usually come down to the wire. Great fun to watch.

Dwnshift, sorry for the misfortune. I had a great time the whole weekend, and was completely crushed when you got forced off the track. I thought it was the Aston Martin that hit you, after being hit by a Camaro, as I could see from my vantage point. I was sitting on the grass hill on turn 2. We look forward to keeping up with your season. Cheers

While I always want to get into the Grand Am racing, it's downright painful as a spectator to watch the majority of each race (and some finishes) run under caution. Either there are too many cars on track or the drivers need to stop treating these events like bumper cars. True racing fans hate crashes...it's not Nascar where all the good 'ol boys go to see a big pileup!

For what its worth a "true" racing fan likes racing. Those F1 snob types are not "true" racing fans.

That isn't that surprising since all they do is make left turns.

Road race guys like to give NASCAR a bunch of crap but 99% of the road racers that come over to try fail miserably. Racing at the Cup level is one of the toughest disciplines in the business! I know most of it is in jest, but c'mon!

The NISMO RC doesn't use VVEL so it makes sense.

another reason why VVEL isnt that good.
my opinion is it generate too much heat ! so they propably went with the HR head.... im still waiting for more info about that before I do the same since I still have my backup HR when I had my 350z. |

Yes....in order to make it all work. you will need to run a 350Z engine harness, change the chassis harness configuration..andrun a 350Z HR ECU.
For a street car application probably not what you are looking for. For a straight track/race car....go to an aftermarket ECU...get a custom wiring harness made....may be a little more $$$ but less headache and much more percise tunning capabilites. If you decide to go this route there are some really good guys out there that can do get it to work for sure.... We tried it and it worked ....but after one race...we are converting to the Grand Am spec Bosch ECU. Dwnshift |

I didn't realize the RCs were using old 350z heads. They all come this way? So does this mean Nissan motorsports sells this hybrid motor as a crate motor somewhere? Hmmmm.
You know Nissan is really missing opportunity not reaching us average enthusiasts with motorsports parts. They could grab huge market share from many people who are looking for company who supports motorsports. seems like Nissan is on right track but going very slow.
