Traction control

Taking delivery tomorrow of my Nismo 370z and I am concerned about this traction control issue, Dealership confirms that with VDC turned off tires will spin freely with no electronic

Default Traction control

Taking delivery tomorrow of my Nismo 370z and I am concerned about this traction control issue, Dealership confirms that with VDC turned off tires will spin freely with no electronic intervention of any kind. Forum Discussion seem alittle confusing on this subject. Is it that some people are trying to powerbrake and burnout? or are you reving the engine popping the clutch and power is cutting out when wheels start to spin? Does anyone with this car have a clearcut answer?

When you turn VDC off it is all the way off... And of course with it on it will cut power with it on

If you have the brake and throttle on simultaneously the car will cut power unless you pull the brake fuse. Keep in mind your tail lights won't work when you do this.

The brake/throttle interlock stays on, as does ABS/ABLS.

Yeah. Basically you can't do a traditional burnout where you'd use some brake to stay in place without pulling the fuse. 7AT guys also need to pull it so they can stall the torque converter for a better launch at the drag strip.

Some people may be talking about the ABLS, which basically uses the brakes to function as a limited slip

Even with VDC off, on a sustained burnout the car will pulse the brakes to get the power down. It also intervenes to get you moving if you're doing near-donut level slides with the go-pedal down.

Trying to set up my car for the 1/4 mile track...
I want to disable the rear wheels from pulse braking so that I can do a correct burn out.

Where is this brake fuse located ?
I'm understanding from this post that the ABLS (ABS too?) for the rear wheels (only) will be disabled but the brake lights won't work.
Also is there a separate fuse for the VDC ?

Installed the GTM Race Logic Traction Control (digital) and the VDC overrides it and the Race Logic defaults to '0' slip.

So at each start up I have to turn off the VDC and then reset the Race Logic again...sort of a little bit of a pita.

Default I turn VDC off when

I'm at the track or want to accelerate quickly, or when I'm in snow or loose ground & I want power in both wheels without slippage.

I DON'T touch fuses...

Sorry but I don't understand getting traction control for a car that has traction control from the factory. Post a bit confusing.

Hey Andre ... good to hear from you!
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day.

The factory VDC isn't flexible, nor is it adjustable ... I've hated it from day 1.

Really bogs the car down with it on - and it takes a long time to recover if you've pushed it somewhat past it's comfort zone.

The Race Logic TC has a lot of room for adjustment and it is adjustable on the fly.

You can set the allowable slippage in 1% increments before it kicks in.
It allows you to dial in your car to utilize the maximum available traction.

It works by cutting the injectors in a programmed pattern...and the car recovers immediately.

All you feel is a little miss when it engages so you know it's on the job - and since it doesn't drastically starve the motor for fuel there is no bog.

Did a few test launches today @ 3000 ~ 3500 rpm & from 9% ~ 12% slippage - straight as an arrow and no wheel hop...even with the temp in the mid 30's.

Was able to do a manly shift into 2nd - still straight and it still hooked good.

Did a few short burst accelerations last night in the rain as well.
Work'em Good.

I'm all for technology when it works.

Looking for good weather on Sunday - but the forecast is for showers.
Would like to make it to the track to put it to the final test!

Hope this clarifies my post... IMHO - The Race Logic is superior to the factory VDC in every way when it comes to driving it like it was meant to drive.

Lotus, Aston Martin, and Koenigsegg (I believe) all use this system.
