I think it's pretty exciting. I may start looking to buy a 350 to race in the next couple years... Just have to get my garage/parking/house situation straight so I can work on and store another car. :)

I personally think some of the rules could use some tweaking, but it seems like it would be a pretty inexpensive series to run. It's way cooler than Spec Miata!
Great news! Z love all around
No love for 370z? Guess our platform is so much better they don't want us?
well the 370Z still cost too much for the average Club Racer to hack one up and make it a full on race car...and the changes in the SCCA rules for the 350z are driving people to NASA.
Agreed, the rules need some work...I am sure they will change a bunch over the next 6-12 months.
I don't like the use of different size wheels F & R, no front camber arms, and WTF is up with having a Heater core installed? the rest is pretty cool... However we are awaiting the pricing for the new suspension parts... Quote:

Yeah the camber arms is my main thing. Thats just going to drive up costs on having to replace tires all the time.
yeah the no camber arm rule makes no sense because they say they're not allowing them for reduced initial cost, but the cost later from wearing out tires faster because of improper camber angles will cost more. Also, miatas have OEM camber adjustment, so spec miata's have that adjustment option. Giving Spec Z camber arm options will just be fair.
also i dont understand the front and rear staggered wheel sizes with the required tire size is 275/35/18 all around. Either give us a front tire size that is a better fit for the max width 9 inch rim, or just give us 18x10 all around. Another thing is rear diff cooler is not allowed, which i find confusing since the 350 and 370 rear end is known to see high diff oil temps because of the lack of airflow to the high mounted diff housing. Again they say to keep cost down is the reason, but i mean why outlaw it? just make it a option and the people who deem it necessary will buy them, and they people who dont, wont. |
