I ran 12.80 with the stock tire and the intake and exhaust. I only got one pass in the 12.8's.
To our fellow member who said 12's are slow. Let me tell you there is nothing slow about 12.42's. on all motor. My friend the car is moving at that time. It pulled hard through all 5 gear's and there was no driver mistakes on that pass.
I wish that i live closer to Jnaut. we would have a great 1/4 mile run agaist each other. plus with him working on my car i now that it would be quicker as im running my own Cobb tune on the car and i know that the Uprev tune would give it more power. Im not a tunner , i just keep ajusting the fuel settings.
To the guys who live in high elevations your times are great consdering the conditions you race in. Be proud of your times for if you raced a sea level your cars would be way faster.
My elevation is 650 ft. At sea level i would be in the high 12.2's.
If you put my set up in RCY's car he would be running 11.5's or better with that stillen SC.

No one said 12's were slow, just not much to brag about and rag on others that are not that fast. I only say that because my old street car was an 81 vette with a SC'ed 383 stroker that ran 10's on drag radials full interior and pump gas. Drove it everyday to and from work, and tracked on the weekends for four years.

12's are fine... let's think back with the cars that used to be considered fast. The old fox body mustang... low 14's, I believe the Camaro's were about the same.... I mean these were the cars to have... and we have a V6 that NO one EVER would have though it would be putting out 332 hp unless it was turbo or super charged.

m4a1mustang 12-12-2011 08:36 AM

Yeah it wasn't too long ago when 13s stock from an affordable street car was considered super fast. 12 (and lower) was the big boy's territory back then.

Now we're blending 12/13 from the factory and you aren't isht anymore until you're running 11s!

Red__Zed 12-12-2011 08:39 AM

Times definitely have changed...Maximas and v6 accords break into the 13s stock on the regular.

KaienZ34 12-12-2011 08:40 AM

I'm just saying it's not worth ragging on someone that isn't in the 12's that's all.

Yup. Here is Jay's bone stock Maxima...

If we were to go back 10 years and tell people a Maxima would be running high 13s stock they would think we're crazy.

That's definitely true. It's not worth ragging on anyone for anything honestly.

Those Maxima's are nice looking cars. I'd buy one if it suited what I was looking for in price and such.

They are pretty sweet. I just can't stand the rubber band transmission.

Wonder of Jay will be mad if I set a better time in the Maxima then him :p

Since mods make me go slower, maybe I should start doing negative mods do decrease my car's power. Maybe if I reduce my HP by like 100 I can get into the 11's :rofl2:

Wow, this thread..

Let's be honest, there's a lot of people (in Z's) I have met ,who just can't drive worth a crap. Nothing against them, but they just honestly can't drive a manual car. A good amount are scared to even take their car to redline.

Personally, I went to PBIR just to test the car before a tune. I shifted normally, as in not WOT shifting, and babied it out of the hole. I just wanted to get comfortable with the car. Hitting 2nd hard sent me a bit sideways on one run. I am sure if I powershifted and tried as hard as I could, I could have gotten into the 12's, no problem. I decided I was not going back to the track until I got a tune and an oil cooler (the car was not consistent enough for me).

I must be lucky... my oil temps got a little bit high a few times during the summer, but normal driving i'm at 180-200 max.

Andre all your recent posts here seem to be aimed at stirring the pot. You always have something negative to say about the 370. I'm all for stating your opinion but you're going about it the wrong way. We all have gripes about the 370 and we know its not perfect, but all you talk about is how fast your 08 350 is, or how good of a driver you are, etc, etc...Can I ask why you don't post on 350Z forums?

gaveup 12-12-2011 10:53 AM

Also, I don't know if anyone remembers, but it took a good amount of time for 350Z's when they first came out to be considered "fast". Why you ask? Because 350Z's started getting quicker when they started to drop in price and younger people could afford them, make the right mods and drive the piss out of them. Also, it took a bit for people to figure out what not to do, and what to do in terms of properly racing the car. No one wants to be the guy to discover what limits the transmission or diff has..

Seems as people get older (let's say 30) they really don't care to go to the track and improve every weekend. I hate to have to say I am the same way. I've been to the track once with my Z, and until I get an oil cooler, really don't care to go again (granted my track is about an hour away). Doesn't mean I lost my passion for driving, just means I lost my drive to commute to a track to get yelled at and kicked off because I don't want to buy a helmet :).

I will say this though, a lot of the 370Z owners I have met seem to think their cars are gold. Or baby the car so much it takes the fun out of owning a "sports" car :(
