Need infos on this toyo r888
Hi, i can have a good price for the r888 and need your advices.
The size will be 225/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear on the factory 18'' wheel. My main interrogation is: will the 275 be ok on the rear 9'' wheels? And for information, i only going to use this setup on the track, not on the open road. thanks for your answers and advice. |

While not ideal size for 9 it will work. My concern would be related to the significant stagger 225 vs 275. I run 285 r and 265 front R888 as a street setup on my Nismo and I get some understeer.

cossie1600, i already knew what you think about those r888:-)... but i had them at a really good price (only with this set up 225 vs 275) but it is kind of nothing to loose:-)....
So if you tell me that it will work, i am fine with that.... i will let you know what i think about r888 on the Z even if i think it's going to be fine as i already had them on my honda integer R... thanks for infos, still welcome on advices with those r888 on our Z... |

My stock 9" front wheel has 285s on it. I am not concern about fitment, it's more about the car driving like poop. Shamu said it best, you are going to have a car that refuse to turn

ok,so what should i do, buy some larger for the front, or go smaller at the back??
coz the 4 or 5 track day i did were with the factory yokohama tire (225 vs 245) that come with the 18'' wheels. In any case it's going to be much better with the r888 setup (225 vs 275) that i told you?? Am i wrong?? thks |

ok, i have already read all the articles concerning the r888, and i'm shure that for my level of drive it would be FUN enough, my only worries are the set up 225 front with 275 rear and the change of the diameter of my wheel with the toyo.
as it's going to be smaller with the r888 then factory, i will have a drop of my car who is already lowered, i hope to not touch the floor:-))... No problem for the noise for me, i will only use them on track. by the way, i will change pads and brake fluid too:-)... |

I ran through three sets of those R888s when it first came out based on those stupid reviews. I have tried high and low pressure (the article is right about how they love high pressure), they just weren't as fast as the RA1s once you put a few heat cycles on them. There is a reason why Spec Miata guys hate them and Toyo brought back the RA1 in limited sizes due to the grieve they were getting from the drivers. Sure they might be a little faster new, but they do not hold up throughout the life of the tire. Of course at their worst, they are still better than any street tires you buy. From an R comp perspective, I just think they are garbage.
