It looks like a really nice track. I see 2 potential problem corners, the hard right at the bottom of the hill before the bridge and the hard right at the top of the hill. The one at the top of the hill will probably be a little worse because the pickup is in the front of the tank.

Yea I totally agree with you. More so with the top of the hill. I'll see soon enough.

Sucks that they have that 98db noise restriction. That's really going to limit any events there. I have no clue how loud my car is, but hopefully its under that restriction. I want to go there this Fall.

Zs are probably fine. My buddy who has a Superleggera with test pipes and exhaust isn't so much. What he and others have learned though, is to lift when going by the sound monitors.

My exhaust setup seems loud. More deep sounding than anything. But being a Greddy it come with a tri mounted silencer so I can always put that back in. In which Greddy claims that keeps it under 94db.

When measuring sound levels distance is the critical factor. If they are measuring sound levels at max rpm while standing 3 feet away from the back of the car 98dB is going to be easy to achieve if you have test pipes. If they are measuring it from 30 ft away at the side of the track then that same reading would have decayed several dB due to dispersion. Sometimes just driving on the opposite side of the track to where the meters are can help.

Also note that some tracks just go through the motions in order to comply with local regulations and don't actually enforce very heavily unless there is a blatant infraction. I was at one track which had a 98 dB limit at 10ft as measured in the pits with a hand monitor, some of us failed and had to "fix" and retest (read we just revved more slowly the next time). Then halfway through the day they cleared the track and brought out a daytona prototype car which was so insanely loud that you could tell where it was on the track just by listening to the sound echoing off the trees.

AMP did say on there FB page that is going to be 98db at 50'. And I talked to a representative from AMP yesterday morning at one of are C&O events about this. He pretty much IMO didn't seem to worried about as he shrugged his shoulders. lol.

From the Google maps you can tell there's about three houses near the track but they look a decent amount of distance from there.

Yeah, 50' doesn't sound too bad. It's still going to be an issue for any real races to occur at that track though.

One of the local tracks (Waterford Hills Road Racing) has a 75dB limit. I think it's just a CYA thing really though.

That's probably at the property line though, so to break 75dB you would have to be over 100dB at 10ft.

It is at the property line but the property line/sampling station is 20' drivers left and ~20' in the air from the back straight. You can see it here Waterford 9-9-10 on Vimeo Half way down the back straight there is a little booth with the measurement equipment.

A bunch of houses sprung up around the track and subsequently tried to get it shut down... Fortunately it's now a historic place and they can't!

Those people irk me. It's like building a house next to an airport and then complaining about the noise from the planes. You just want to slap them and say "Duh, what did you expect?"

I imagine that the sampling box is calibrated for a higher value than 75dB though given the distance. I've had farts that could register that.
