Please post your fastest lap time on any given road course in this thread and I will update the database. This is limited to cars who are owned or driven by people on these forums.

Not many have. It's a public street road course built in the late eighties for ind lights. Used two or three years and abandoned. They opened it for the Ferrari club in June and zcon in July, but they are doing construction off of the back side of it and im guessing it won't be resurrected.

It was the most fun track I've ever been on, with banked turns and nice wide areas.

I guess it depends on what your idea of "stock" is. Its not a tube frame car and most everything retains the stock mounting locations or configurations. Although nearly every part of the car has been replaced, it is replaced by something that bolts to the stock location. Aero is stock Nismo 370Z stuff, power is limited to less than what a bolt on turbo kit will get you on a stock VQ37, and the factory unibody structure is still in tact. Continental Tire series cars are a lot more "stock" than say ALMS and ROLEX series GT cars.

A couple things to note: The 04 is currently about three hundred pounds heavier than 2650, and at Laguna was close to 3200 with driver. Our base weight for the rules is 2900 sans driver, which we shoot for at the end of the race, with worn pads, next to no fuel, etc.

We also run on a very hard control tire (245F/275R) that is several seconds a lap slower than an R6 Hoosier. In fact, they used to use an R6 in this series, but the compound and durability wasn't suited to our 2.5 hour races. The same goes for the two dampers we are allowed to run, they are good, but they aren't like a set of JRZs, because cost control is a major consideration in CTSCC.

Also, the 04 was in a very early specification at Laguna still, and was updated to the specs of the 05 car for the last race of the year, and the difference was significant. Finally, small differences in lap times are significant at Laguna, the gap between the GS (M3/Camaro/370Z/Mustang) and ST (MX5/GTI/Civic/328) cars is only about 4 seconds there.

I guess the take away here is that while Grant is right, and we do have fully built, meticulously-prepped race cars on slicks, they are built to a very restrictive rules package, and the reality of a control tire is different than the outside observer might think. Grand Am is not interested in Continental cars having lightning fast lap times, they are interested in having great racing. As such, they keep a short leash on us and make sure that the show that 70 cars put on is good, regardless of the outright pace.

I've driven my turbo 240sx & Celica on Buttonwillow 13CW. Those are very darn impressive times, nearing with a bunch of S2000s and Miatas. I'm curious as to how fast a stock 370z sport would do.

The first time I ever drove my 370Z on track was at Buttonwillow #13CW and all it had done was some off-the-shelf BC Racing coilovers and Berk HFCs and it ran a 2:05.714 back in March 2009. I think my driving has stepped up a bunch since then so I would be willing to bet that in good track conditions I could match that time in a bone stock 370Z w/sport.
