oil temps too low/ too much oil??
So i installed my z1 25row oil cooler yesterday, and this morning i checked oil level with dipstick and showed that the oil was waayy over h line, i started it up, drove to work (15min drive/ outside temps at 82F), and checked again for oil levels. It was slightly lower than H line. is this suppose to be normal??
also oil temps never reached up to 180F, didnt push the car at all, should i be worried about this change or is the oil cooler doin an awesome job? before i got the oil cooler i was running around 200F-220F

In which orientation did you install the oil cooler? If the fittings are down, the oil will back flow into the oil sump and the dipstick level is worthless. If you installed the cooler with the fittings up, the oil will not back flow and the dipstick is accurate. In that case, you're overfilled and should remove some oil (oil extractor is the easiest way). Most people say 6qts exactly is 'right' for a 25row oil cooler installation.
Your oil cooler is just doing its job. Even if you have a thermostatic plate, your oil temps may be too low if the weather is cool/cold (oil will never get to 180F). You can deal with this by making a cover for the cooler. See my DIY in the DIY section. You do not want your oil overcooled. I've found that ambient temps under about 65F are best served with the cooler cover in place unless I'm going to be driving hard or on track.

it does have a thermostatic plate, i installed the fittings at top of oil cooler
i just finished taking out 3/4 quart of oil today, drove it around, checked dipstick and its right below the H mark. but now i noticed a small leak around the fittings on oil cooler so i went ahead and double check on tightening the hose clamps. everything seems tight, i must've not added a seal tape on those adapter fittings or there was just too much oil which caused a lot of pressure for the leakage. ill just have to keep on checking the dipstick everyday and hopefully everything runs smoothly for track day this friday. thanks for info!

I added about 6.3 with my 34R. The 34R took almost 1 quart by itself for I filled it by itself before adding the lines. Then filled the car with 5 quarts. The .3 was for the lines and filter. Dead on in my case.
