Trois Rivieres Pro Race - stop by if you are going
Guys, I am hauling the spec racer up to Trois Rivieres for the PRO Spec Racer races next weekend. If any of you Canadians (or New Englanders) are coming, stop by. Running with Indy Lights, Trans AM, Cascar, etc. See the details at Grand Prix Trois-Rivières - Embarquez dans l'édition 2011 !!

Very cool, hope you have a great time. It's a wonderful track but just be careful, lots of blind corners and no run off. I've seen people spin on the exit of the corner and then get slammed by the person behind them that had no idea. Watch for flags like a hawk! Sadly I'll probably never get to drive it.

Yeah, a steet course will be awesome! And you are correct, no room for error, but that is good for me. Spec Racers have never run there so it levels the playing field. This is also my first pro race, so I don't have high expectations, just to have fun, running in front of 100k fans. Should be interesting.....

That was my favorite event of the season until it got dropped off the schedule this year. Go downtown Saturday night! Awesome city, awesome track, and the best scenery of any town ever. Seriously jealous!

hi all. just new today. I am heading to 3 rivers on friday. My first time there and will be camping at the track. Any great general admission spots to relax and watch the races? If I get a chance I will drop by and say hi speedworks. Good luck.

Yeah, looking forward to it, am spending the week in the NH mountains until Thursday. I've been to 3Rivers twice in the early 90's to officiate the race, very neat area. I don't think Spec Racers have ever been there, so it should be fun.

I will probably go over the week-end. A great track with superb fans attitude. Just stay off the wall on turn #2, #3, #4, #5 etc...

Well, the weekend ended up sucking and ending early. Went out for first practice on Friday morning, and second lap, got tagged and smacked into the wall - the guy didn't check up after someone spun in front of me. Worked all day to get the car ready for Qual (in the afternoon), and then raced at night. With the heat, and cranking on fixing the car, drove the whole race with cramped legs (just couldn't do anything) - I think I finished 14. NOW FOR THE WORST PART. Went back to the hotel to sleep, woke up in the morning, and my tow vehicle (F350) was stolen. So, here I was with my 3 little kids, wife, crew member, in a small motel in a French speaking town, with no vehicle (and my wallet was in it, plus all of the other spares/parts). Needless to say, it was rough. Luckily, we found a rental truck, my spec racer buddies helped out completely (fabricated a hitch that would work), someone took my car back to the states, and we just made it home. Needless to say, I don't plan to go to Quebec ever again. Supposedly, big trucks are stolen all of the time. Every year at this event, a few get stolen. I wish I had known that before. I left without racing the second the race. Just one bad experience.

Wow that's horrible. I had no idea truck theft was a big thing up there.
I could have come up and pulled your trailer and crew member back home, have a 3/4 ton with a 10,000 lb hitch. Glad your buddies were able to help you out the best they could. I've been to Mt Tembant and never heard of any issues there.

yeah, put a downer on the whole Pro Racing thing, in Canada.
I will probably be out a few grand, luckily we made it home safely with the help of a good racing community. |
