J Spec Automotive Inc. He's worked on my Z, and look at my 1/4 mile time in my sig. Quote:
160F to 180F seems to be the sweet spot for my car for good runs, anything more than that and your ET's will suffer. There is definitely a noticeable power drop on the butt dyno above 200F. I usually wait a minimum 30 minutes between runs. Ideally 45 to 60 mins between runs for best results. The tune should make a big difference with your mods. You should come up to PBIR/Moroso once your Z is tuned.

Yeah, pretty much the only 1/4 mile track in south florida...
Ouch at 102mph...that's bad. I thought my 107mph was garbage, if I trapped 102, I would have traded the car in that day. However, I am willing to bet your oil temps were pretty high and the ECU was cutting power. Hell, my 107 traps were on 210-220 degree oil temps.

I'm in the West Palm Beach area... about 20 minutes from PBIR.

You are probably making about 10-15% less whp thanks to the heat and high humidity -- less actual g/sec of usable air are being drawn in because of heat expansion and high water content. Over sucessive runs, unless you are misting the IM, it will be even worse due to heat soak. Your air temps are probably well over 120* F. Go back in the "winter" and you will be happier with your time.

I find this fascinating-I won't comment-just want to understand more

Are you asking what a flywheel does? You admit that you don't know how to do a burn out. Don't know how to drive. Spending/spent thousands on mods/tunning & I assume you don't know what they do, or if they are helpful. Am I getting this right? |

I was just gonna say, excuse me for not knowing every detail about mods. I know a few here and there but no need for you to come in here and start making fun of people. I thought this is a place for people to go to to learn and 99.9% are very helpful and I guess that andre guy is that .1% so my suggestion to him is...........get in your old 2008 350z and dream of having a 40th anniversary z. I rest my case lol.

Sorry
I'm just a guest here, & should not abuse that privilege. It's just that your story started with a car being slower on hot days. As time went by, your story developed, at least to me, into fascinating & compelling reading. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. Please continue with your story.

stock flywheel is 30lb and most aftermarket are about half that. less rotating mass improves the responsiveness of the motor. I like it more than the high flow cats i have.
