its just like accelerating at a normal light. when you accelerate and the car doesn't jolt back and forth you literally feathered the clutch. now do that but fast while launching the car and applying the adequate throttle needed until you "feel" the car hook then you release the clutch completely and apply throttle accordingly. for the other shifts i fully engage and disengage the clutch.....but as fast and smoothly as possible obviously.

What are your 60 foot times? For a newb that should be all you need to work on.

I am not sure lol, I will have to go get the slips when I get home, pretty sure they were high though like 2.3-2.5 don't quote me on that though I am really not positive.

you need to work more on that 60ft, practice the feathering and the 60ft should drop

Here's a little tip I picked up from experienced and professional drag racers. On a street car drop the rear tire pressure down to ~20psi. For cars with a lot more HP than the 370Z (the few cars out there) drop it down even further. At 20psi it'll allow you to launch the car at higher RPM without having to feather the clutch as much to produce less wheel spin, the tires will deform more upon launch and it will drop your 60' time and ultimately result in a big improvement in the 1/4 mile for such a small adjustment.
Give it a try. The "sportsman" classes in NHRA typically will run rear tires as low as 12psi (that's practically FLAT!) with drag radials. |

Next time I go I will take mine to work and scan them and upload them. Thanks for the help guys. And I will try dropping the pressure down quite a bit and see how that works out for me.

I wouldn't drop them lower than 25psi to start. If you feel the back end wobbling side to side you may want to add more air. Keep your front tires at max pressure.
Lower PSI has given me 1.8's on stock RFT's. It can definitely improve your 60' |

Friday will be my final track day w/ my z, unless I go to Atl this weekend. If I go to ATL then I won't be able to go again. Reading some posts.. I think my biggest problems were tire pressure, launching at too high of an rpm, and not feathering the clutch. Want to see if I can top 13.7 stock (have to put my stock tires/rims back on)
