Hey a few more photos at that size from different angles and some kind of algorithm could probably deduce 90% of the CNC pattern automatically . On that note: it might be nice to document that pan in more detail before it sells and/or goes on a car. AFAIK most of the others are attached and in service, and thus not really available for analysis.

Actually, the engineering of this type of oil pan is no big deal (not to take anything away from it, because its well done and what is most important is that they actually DID it and built it). Its just getting the initial dimensions for the bolt pattern and etc. There is enough showing in the originally posted CAD photos to replicate the design no problem, or just make one from scratch using the same flapper system.

For me personally, I would not draw it or sell it, simply because I dont copy other peoples work. But for any CAD designer, making that pan would be no problem!

Eh, I guess I come from a mindset that if the other guy isn't selling it, it's going to waste. If they step up and want to sell the design that's great.

The sump package is the real deal... More reliability, more efficient oil pressure, and more hp.
Again.... The AM pan is very nice ... but it's only part of the issue.

For most this pan is more than sufficient. My car performs great with this piece. Dry sump is a bit extreme for most of us weekend warriors.

But again something is better than nothing! Let us know when you have a $1000 dry sump option that can bolted onto a street legal car. Lol!

LOL, the scavenging pump alone is a $1K piece on a dry sump system.

People complain about the Z06 dry sump because it is half-assed, for cost reasons obviously.

But I do agree that for most of us doing HPDE, Time-attack, etc the AM piece is good enough and dry sump is overkill. I'm glad I have it.

Well, it kinds sucks that I revived this thread due to stated interest in buying this pan and when there turned out to be one still available it looks as though someone else got it. Honestly I don't have the time to check this thread all the time on deployment. Sigh. I hope we can figure out a way to get some more of these made up I'm still very interested in obtaining one of these.

Again.... the pan is nice.... I'm just stating that the weak link is actually the pump (gears).

Yeah they were working on upgraded gear for pump before they left the scene. The stock gear is an embarrassment for Nissan. It's like high grade pot metal? wTF? Its one reason I went forced induction to keep RPMs low. Something about harmonics of higher RPMs that break stock gear.

But again for most of us we won't see a failure there. And again there isn't a commercially available dry sump that makes sense for us street going guys.

Is there another thread (yet) with more detail on the oil pump gear issue? I'd hate to have my oil pump just stop working mid-track (not to mention bits of gear floating in there...). Is it accessible from the underside with the pan off for replacement?

That's still my long term plan in the back of my head. It'll be costly and time-consuming though, so I'm hoping I get at least another 20-30K miles out of this engine first. Then when it finally goes kaput, it's LSx time .
